As the new director of sales and marketing for Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center, Scott Becque has in a short time made his distinctive mark on the landmark property, which was one of the first true conference centers in the US. Mr. Becque has transformed the sales team for Glen Cove Mansion, developed a highly interactive website, and launched a new creative direction for marketing the historic property.

Mr. Becque has also heightened the cultural heritage of Glen Cove Mansion on the storied Long Island North Shore Gold Coast, and saw to it that Hollywood gave the estate its just due. Glen Cove Mansion, the former country residence of New York’s legendary Pratt family, has through the years served as a backdrop for many classic films, including Audrey Hepburn’s Sabrina. In recognition, the mansion has been included in a Special Feature “Sabrina’s World” on the new double DVD edition of Sabrina just released by Paramount Studios. The special feature highlights Long Island’s storied North Shore Gold Coast mansions and lifestyle.

“I am so pleased that Scott joined our team at Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center,” said Ata Kashanian, vice president and general manager. “He has been instrumental in the repositioning of this magnificent landmark property, together with his sales and marketing team, and we look forward to much continued success in the future.”

“Rarely does one get the opportunity to work with a property that has dual historic importance,” said Scott Becque. “Glen Cove Mansion represents a remnant of the storied past in New York and the nation’s history … the Gilded Age in all its extravagance. But 40 years ago, the mansion helped pioneer in the US a new meetings concept from Europe – that of a dedicated conference center. This was radical at the time, and although Glen Cove Mansion is now a luxury hotel as well, we remain true to our heritage of warm hospitality, productive gatherings, and service excellence.” Mr. Becque concluded with, “I’m so thrilled to be a part of the newest chapter in the history of this most remarkable place.”

Scott Becque came to his position at Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center with a solid track record of sales and marketing success. Previous to joining the property, Mr. Becque was regional director of sales and marketing for Columbia Sussex Co. of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, overseeing 17 hotels in the Northeast. While there, he spent most of his time taking over and rebranding hotels, growing his region from 6 to 17 branded properties. These brands included Sheraton, Westin, Hilton DoubleTree and Marriott. Prior to this, he held the same position at New Castle Hotels of Shelton, Connecticut. In both roles, Mr. Becque significantly exceeded budgeted RevPAR performance year-after-year.

Mr. Becque also invested nearly 20 years of his career with Interstate Hotels Corporation, serving as director of sales and marketing at the Providence Marriott, Westin Washington, DC, the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square, and the St. Moritz in New York City. He held the position of area director of sales and marketing for The Island Resorts of Massachusetts – Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, where he booked over $1 million in new business during a single year, receiving the Significant Achievement Award from the company.

Early in his career Mr. Becque was involved in the pre-opening activities of the Lowell (MA) Hilton, Ft. Lauderdale Marriott North, and the Harrisburg/Hershey Courtyard by Marriott. Scott Becque earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ithaca College, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
