Meet Chef Gianluca Serafin, the talented young chef leading Mezzaluna restaurant’s culinary team in the creation of an innovative and refreshing new menu at Mandarin Oriental, Macau’s fine-dining Italian restaurant.
Born in Italy, Serafin has held positions at leading establishments in Europe and further broadened his culinary as well as cultural range in Japan. This emerging talent now brings to Macau a wealth of hands-on practical experience and management skills learnt from some of the top executive chefs in the industry.
Serafin has recently introduced a new menu to welcome the spring season. Some of his creations include “Pan Fried Beef Sirloin with Stewed White Onion and Marjoram Leaves”, “Potato ‘Gallette’ in Reduced Chianti Wine Sauce”, “Grilled Scallops”, “Duck Liver and Salad Leaves Dressed with Aged Modena Vinegar”, “Pineapple Tatine and Kataifi with Soft Coconut Bisquit” and “Ginger Ice Cream and Basil Infusion”, in addition to a wide range of homemade pasta selections.
Situated on the 2nd floor of the hotel, Mezzaluna resembles a renovated Tuscan villa and features a wine room with floor-to-ceiling frosted glass holding more than 1,000 vintages from around the globe. There is also an open kitchen with wood-burning oven and a main dining area showcasing beautiful views of the meticulously landscaped grounds of Mandarin Oriental, Macau. A bar at the main entrance also serves as reception area and lounge with soft seating, silk cushions and casual nibbles on offer. Open daily from 12 noon to 2.30 p.m. for lunch and from 6.30 to 11 p.m. for dinner.
