On the outskirts of Marrakech, with the High Atlas Mountains as a backdrop, the Amanjena palace, with its superb gardens, shady patios where fountains sing, and ochre buildings inspired by those of the old town, is a veritable haven of peace. It's a place that Tim Weiland knows to perfection, having worked there from April 2008 to October 2010, first as food & beverage director, then as executive assistant manager. This place, which he loves so much, will once again become his daily routine. This graduate of the EHL Hospitality Business Schoolwill be taking on the role of General Manager of the Aman property. He succeeds Sven Van Den Broeck, who has been promoted to General Manager EMEA of the Swiss-based group.

Having first started at Amanjena in 2008, this property laid a strong foundation for my career. Returning to Amanjena after nearly 15 years with this international perspective allows me to appreciate even more everything the hotel, the destination, and Aman have to offer. I return with a fresh outlook, recognising how both the Aman brand and I have developed over the years. Amanjena is not just a luxurious retreat; it embodies a sense of tranquillity, elegance, and timeless beauty that deeply resonates with me. My return signifies a homecoming to a place that nurtures body and spirit, offering a perfect blend of luxury and cultural richness,” confesses Tim Weiland, interviewed by the Journal des Palaces.

Still under the spell of a property that he considers to have a timeless elegance and which has acquired a patina that adds to its charm, the new manager appreciates the team's warm and intuitive service, which is always impeccable. He welcomes the addition of eight new pool pavilions, offering private heated pools that offer a majestic view of the oasis' olive groves and palm trees, with the High Atlas Mountains on the horizon.

This globetrotter, who as a child followed his parents on humanitarian missions from South Africa to Haiti, via Kenya, is settling his bags in the Moroccan desert from Switzerland, where he has already been working as general manager at The Alpina Gstaad since 2018. Previously, he held this position at Aman Le Mélézin in Couchevel 1850 (2014-2018), Aman Summer Palace Beijing (2012-2014) and Amanbagh Rajastha India (2010-2012). On his return to Morocco, Tim Weiland has high ambitions for the propertyhe is taking over.

As we approach the 25-year anniversary of Amanjena next year, we have some works planned to keep up with the ever-increasing demands of our guests and the stiff competition in the local market. There are further projects in the pipeline that I cannot yet divulge, but I'm very excited about the future of Amanjena, which, like a fine wine, should age gracefully and continue to improve with the years. My goals revolve around preserving its unique character while ensuring it remains a leading destination for exploration and relaxation. We will continue to innovate in providing exceptional guest experiences, from restorative wellness programs and unique private dining experiences to bespoke adventures that immerse visitors in the beauty and heritage of the region. Ultimately, my vision is for Amanjena to remain a timeless oasis where guests can find rejuvenation, inspiration, and a deep connection to the essence of Aman” he concludes.
