To address travellers' appetites for all things
culinary, Metropolitan Hotels, leaders in Canadian hospitality, is introducing
a new, elaborate series of all-inclusive, over-the-top gastronomic-themed
weekend stay packages, which will take advantage of Canada's most vibrant and
diverse gourmet destinations - Toronto and Vancouver.
Not just your run-of-the-mill culinary packages, these packages promise
insider access to chefs, VIP treatment and once-in-a-lifetime experiences at
some of the country's top restaurants, shops and wineries. In Toronto, guests
will experience unforgettable culinary experiences when they travel by
limousine from their stylish hotel room, including a specially created
six-course menu at Susur, a meet-and-greet with a dim sum chef and a guided
tour of St. Lawrence Market. In Vancouver, guests of the Metropolitan
Vancouver can meet the brewmaster of Granville Island Brewery and learn the
secrets of beer making, as well as tour the favourite hot spots of Global
BCTV's "Saturday Morning Chef" Nathan Fong or visit the hot dining spots with
a Vancouver food writer.
Called Insider Gourmet Tours, the weekend offerings will focus on
behind-the-scenes tours and demonstrations with top chefs, gourmands and
winemakers, as well as elite access to Toronto and Vancouver's hottest food
and wine destinations, including the Metropolitan's own acclaimed restaurants
Senses, Lai Wah Heen, Lai Toh Heen and Diva at the Met. The foray into
elaborate culinary packages makes Metropolitan the first hotel company in
Canada to offer such a series of exclusive themed packages for culinary-minded
tourists.
"We know that leisure and business travellers are putting more emphasis
on culinary experiences in our cities," says Henry Wu, President of
Metropolitan Hotels. "It is a natural progression for us to offer our guests
unique gastronomic experiences that match our own longstanding reputation for
award-winning food, wine and fine dining restaurants with like-minded chefs,
winemakers and gourmands in Vancouver and Toronto."
To highlight each city's unique culinary offerings and illustrate the
Metropolitan's commitment to providing world-class experiences for its guests,
the Insider Gourmet Tours series will offer one weekend-stay package each
month, beginning in January 2007. The packages will be timed to capitalize
upon the best culinary experiences of the season, including access to local
markets, cooking schools, wineries, top-notch restaurants and more.
The new program's packages are available to guests of the Metropolitan
Toronto, SoHo Metropolitan and Metropolitan Vancouver. For a cost of $999 per
person, based on double occupancy (single occupancy, add $100), guests will
receive two nights' accommodation (Friday and Saturday), all behind-the-scenes
planning services, food, wine and related activities and transportation where
indicated.
Two different packages will be held in each city on January 12-14, 2007
and February 23-25, 2007. New packages for March 2007 and onwards are
currently being created and will be released in the coming months. Highlights
of each package can be found by visiting www.metropolitan.com/packages. To
make a reservation, call Metropolitan Hotels at 1.800.668.6600 (Toronto) or
1.800.667.2300 (Vancouver).
