Leading luxury Phuket resort Indigo Pearl has appointed veteran British-American hotelier Mr. Kelly Lewis as new General Manager.
Mr. Lewis Joins Indigo Pearl from Makena Beach Golf Resort in Maui, Hawaii where he was General Manager.
Mr Lewis began his hospitality career over 20 years ago in Hawaii, first rising to acting F&B Director of Hyatt Regency Maui. He was soon after appointed Director of Food & Beverage / Executive Assistant Manager at Princess Hotel in Hamilton, Bermuda and in 1998 made his first venture to Asia with the Pacific Islands Club Resort, Saipan as Director of Food & Beverage.
Following Asia he held the role of Resident Manager of the famous Half Moon Golf, Tennis and Beach Club in Montego Bay, Jamaica; and later returned to Asia as Hotel Manager for Shangri-La’s Golden Sands Resort, Batu Feringgi Beach, Penang, Malaysia.
Lewis’ first appointment as General Manager was in 2004, at Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa, off the coast of South Carolina.
Over the past seven years he has managed Carefree Resort & Villas in Arizona; Hotel Victor in South Beach, Miami; and Grove Isle Hotel & Spa in Florida, which was voted Conde Nast’s Top Hotel, among the Top 50 Small Resorts in the US by Zagat Hotel Guide and #2 Top Performing Hotel in the US by Lodging and Hospitality magazine during his tenure.
Among many notable career highlights, Lewis has successfully managed events for the Rhode Island to Bermuda Yacht Race, headed all VIP Food and Beverage during the Ryder’s Cup in Rochester New York, and Headed the F&B for the Kaanapali Classic Professional Golf tournament in Maui Hawaii.
No stranger to renovation projects, he will be overseeing the multi-million dollar aesthetic transformation in partnership with Bensley Design Studios at Indigo Pearl to make the property an ‘all suite and villa’ resort. The Pool & Spa Villas ranging from 550 to 2,500 square metres are set to open by fall 2011.
