Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, announced it will open Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin in mainland China early 2009, during the hotel's groundbreaking ceremony today.
Situated in the northeastern corner of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guilin is considered one of China's most beautiful and scenic destinations, claiming to have the "finest mountains and rivers under heaven." Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin will be situated on the bank of picturesque Li Jiang River, a 30-minute drive from the airport.
Designed by Hong Kong-based Wong & Tung International, the hotel will feature 418 guestrooms, with river views and a minimum room size of 42 square metres. Hotel guests will be provided the full array of Shangri-La amenities, including 24-hour room service, same day laundry and valet service, satellite TV, data ports, as well as broadband and wireless internet services. The 54-room Horizon Club will offer a host of special amenities and privileges such as a private meeting room, express check-in and check-out service, in addition to an exclusive club lounge for daily breakfast and evening cocktails.
The hotel's dining and entertainment options will include a lobby lounge, coffee shop, speciality restaurant, Chinese restaurant, pool bar and entertainment centre.Its meeting and banqueting facilities will include a 1,800-square-metre grand ballroom, the city's largest, as well as a 280-square-meter auditorium. In addition, there will be six function rooms measuring from 75 to 200 square meters.
The hotel's business centre will serve the needs of business travellers while recreational facilities will include a health club, spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
