Whether the reason is soul-searching, or just an excuse for some time out, a visit to the spa is the perfect antidote to modern living. Design Hotels™ presents three member hotels which exceed all expectations, offering everything from treatments using local coffee beans to dream interpretation sessions. The destination and wellness spa at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach takes inspiration from ancient bathing traditions to create a holistic and communal spa experience. With outdoor spa facilities including mud baths and a roman waterfall, as well as an extensive range of innovative treatments, the hotel is a one-stop-shop to rejuvenate and revive. For a Balinese spa getaway Alila Villas Soori offers a remote and picturesque setting next to deserted blacksand beaches. The spa is hidden beneath a pond, giving it a serene under-the-water ambience, and treatments use natural ingredients including locally grown coffee. For long-lasting effects, the spa at La Réserve Ramatuelle on the French Riviera aims to teach its guests a new lifestyle for a greater quality of life. There is a sic-day program, the Ultimate Regenerating Experience, which include a medical assessment with a doctor, tailored treatments and nutrition advice according to each individual’s needs. It is a unique approach to well-being through weight-loss, sculpting and revitalizing the body.

Alila Villas Soori, Bali

Hidden beneath the resort’s reflective pond at reception level, the spa at this luxurious all-villa hotel provides a restful sanctuary for all. The spa has an aqua roof that fills it with a soothing spectrum of watery light. Treatments combine ancient Asian healing techniques with age-old beauty recipes using fresh, natural, quality ingredients.

The ‘beauty and balance’ treatment uses the grounds of locally grown coffee to leave the skin toned and glowing, and can be done with a partner in the privacy of their own steam room. The ‘signature spa suite’ features three segregated rooms, one for dry therapies, one for wet treatments and another for changing and showering which also features a whirlpool. The resort’s setting lends itself to relaxation and rejuvenation, with panoramic ocean views, sea breezes and deserted black-sand beaches where guests can walk, or horse ride. For a refreshing dip, all villas come with their own private pool, or there is also an infinity pool with views across the glistening ocean.
