Simon Vincent, previously President of Hilton UK and Ireland, has been promoted to the newly expanded role as a result of Hilton's move to combine the two former geographical areas, of Hilton UK and Ireland and Europe, into one enlarged combined region.
The new consolidated Europe region includes 165 hotels, more than 42,500 rooms and 31 countries.
Ian Carter, Hilton's President of Global Operations commented: "I am delighted that Simon has taken on this new role and that he will be leading the Europe business during what is a very exciting time in our history. Europe is a key strategic growth area for Hilton, with the company planning to open more than 150 hotels over the next 10 years."
Simon joined Hilton in January 2007 to lead the UK and Ireland business and has over 20 years of experience, having spent his early career in international banking and then in the leisure, travel and hospitality sectors. Simon has worked with companies including, Midland Bank, Thomas Cook and Opodo, and also has extensive international experience, having held a number of pan-European roles as well as working in North America and Asia.
Wolfgang Neumann the former Area President of the European business has decided to leave the company after 24 successful years with Hilton. He has held a variety of senior roles, has opened many of our flagship properties and established a growth platform which gives us enormous opportunities for the future.
Both Wolfgang and Simon are working together through November to ensure a smooth transition before Wolfgang's departure at the end of the month.
Simon will be a key part of Ian Carter's global leadership team.
Mr. Carter added: "I am pleased that my senior leadership team is taking shape and I look forward to working together with Simon as we position Hilton as the premier global hospitality company. Equally I want to thank Wolfgang for his great contributions."
