HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII -Barry Wallace, executive vice president of hospitality services for Outrigger Enterprises Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Teri Orton as general manager of the former OHANA Islander Waikiki, which recently closed to undergo a multi-million dollar redesign and repositioning as the final component of Outrigger Enterprises Group's $535 million Waikiki Beach Walk redevelopment project. In her position, Orton will be involved in all aspects of the hotel's transformation - from project management, to design conceptualization, to market positioning, and finally, to day-to-day operation of the new hotel once it opens.
Orton joins Outrigger from her most recent position as regional general manager and resort operations/asset manager for Anekona Development. In that capacity, Orton was responsible for the overall operations of the 343-room Ilikai condotel, the 350-room Hilton Kauai Beach Resort and the 216‑room Aloha Beach full-service hotel. She also was in charge of asset management for the W Honolulu - Diamond Head hotel. Orton worked closely with the property general managers in all aspects of fiscal planning and hotel operations and also with the developer on all project planning for each property.
Orton was also general manager of W Honolulu - Diamond Head hotel and was responsible for the daily operations of this 51-room boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant. During her time there, Orton handled everything from ensuring brand standards, to planning a $3 million renovation, to spearheading public relations and sales & marketing efforts for the property. She also held the positions of director of rooms and director of revenue management while there.
The OHANA Islander Waikiki closed at the end of March for a complete transformation as part of Outrigger's $535 million Waikiki Beach Walk project. When done, the extensive upgrade will transform the property into a brand-new, upscale boutique hotel offering 130 luxury boutique suites of approximately 550 sq. ft. While operated by Outrigger, it will be independently branded.
