World Renowned Wine Guru Robert Parker Praises The Shilla Seoul at Gala Charity Wine Dinner (Corée du Sud)

The world’s most renowned wine guru, Robert Parker, had nothing but praise for The Shilla Seoul which he described as “world class” in its presentation of exclusive wines at a sumptuous gala charity wine dinner on May 30th.
The legendary American wine critic also revealed a personal affection for the country – as he has an adopted South Korean daughter.
During the evening, Robert Parker matched a number of highly prestigious vintages to the 9-course dinner of French cuisine, served at the hotel’s Dynasty Hall.
His wine gradings, which are respected worldwide, acclaim vintages scored from 96 to 100 as the ‘best of the best’ – and two served at the dinner Château de Beaucastel, Chateauneuf du Pape, Hommage a Jacque Perrin 1998, and Château La Mission Haut Brion 1989, were of the very top 100 ranking.
A Piemonte Sperss, Gaja 1998 was rated 90, a South Australian Run Rig, Torbreck 2004 scored 99, and Taylor Flasgate Yeatman 2000 vintage port scored 98.
Also served were Special Cuvée and Grande Année Bollinger Champagnes.
“I’m impressed that South Korean people are becoming more and more interested and knowledgeable about wine,” said Mr. Parker.
“Contrary to popular belief, wine goes very well with Korean food like BBQ and kimchi.
“Wine really is the ultimate drink, as well as a medium which connects people from people all over the world.”
All profits from the gala event were donated to a cancer organization in Korea.
Robert Parker has published his “independent, consumer’s guide” The Wine Advocate since 1975. Today it has over 50,000 subscribers in 37 countries. His website erobertparker.com is the most visited website on wine in the world.
He is the only wine writer/critic in history to be given the highest Presidential Honors by two French presidents and an Italian President. French President Jacques Chirac stated: “Robert Parker is the most followed and influential critic of French wines in the world.”
The Los Angeles Times called him “a fierce champion of the wine consumer” and “the most powerful critic of any kind, any where.”
Robert Parker's visit to Seoul was part of an Asia tour which included stopovers in Tokyo and Shanghai.
