Owned and managed by the same Thai family for 20 years, the luxuriously rustic Tongsai Bay, on the north-eastern tip of Koh Samui, continues to delight discerning visitors from around the globe, having recently been recognised as 30th in the ‘Top 100 Luxury in the World” in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2008. The property, which overlooks a secluded and unspoilt bay, was also voted ninth best in the world for romance, based on traveller ratings and overall levels of TripAdvisor member satisfaction.
TripAdvisor-branded sites make up the largest online travel community in the world, with more than 25 million visitors each month, five million registered members and over 10 million independent reviews and opinions. TripAdvisor and the Travellers’ Choice Awards represent the unbiased opinions of millions of real travellers and honour those properties, from luxury hotels to hidden gems, which are considered to be the best in the world.
Having been named among the top hotels in the world in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards in 2006, the management of The Tongsai Bay is delighted that the property has been honoured once again. Vice chairman Thanakorn Hoontrakul, whose late father Akorn Hoontrakul was a pioneer of luxury tourism to Koh Samui, and fell in love with this secluded spot more than 20 years ago, comments; “We are thrilled that Tongsai Bay has been recognised by the members of TripAdvsior again this year.
