More than 500 concierges are expected on the Indonesian beach of Nusa Dua to attend the 2024 edition of the UICH International Congress. For concierges, it is first and foremost an opportunity to "connect with our friends from around the world, strengthening our network and camaraderie as we enter the new era of the concierge world," says Randy Villanueva Santos, UICH president since April 2023, on the official congress website.
This is the first time that the Clefs d'Or Indonesia chapter has hosted an international event, as it is the association's newest, having been created in 2018. This is a unique opportunity for its president, Yoga Rahiyang Anggakusumah, and its members to highlight "its commitment to elevating concierge services in our country and beyond".
The programme will include meetings for members of the association to exchange ideas and learn from each other: meetings between committees, general assemblies, but also more convivial moments for concierges and their spouses, who will also be invited. They will be able to take advantage of Balinese treasures, through tours of the island, local cooking classes, dinners and galas.
As has been the case since 2008, the International Union of Hotel Concierges is organising a 'Young Concierge' Award, this year honouring the memory of the association's founder, Ferdinand Gillet. Candidates are winners of their national Clefs d'Or competition, such as France's Julie Benhaïm, Clefs d'Or concierge at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, who was named "France's Best Young Concierge 2024" last November. She will join the 20 other international candidates for a final test: a presentation to the jury, made up of representatives from various international sections.
The opening ceremony will take place on 21 April at the Sofitel Nusa Dua.
For this 2024 edition, the 21 candidates are :
- Jean David Wiessmann, Austria
- Lucy Williams, Australia
- Julie Benhaïm, France

- Tom Wardley, Great Britain
- Nasos Stathogiannopoulos, Greece
