Victor Krensler has been appointed General Manager of the upcoming La Fonda Heritage Hotel, Marbella, an emblematic landmark featuring architecture from the 16th century and understated modern elegance.
The stylish boutique hotel will be opening this winter in the heart of the historic Casco Antiguo, becoming the first Relais & Châteaux hotel in Andalusia, Spain, an association known for its pursuit of excellence and its desire to promote the richness and diversity of the world’s culinary and hospitality traditions.
Most of their properties are historic landmarks in beautiful settings offering exquisite cuisine.
Bringing more than two decades of hospitality experience to the role, Victor boasts an extensive knowledge of Marbella as a world-class destination and brings his passion for the city’s vibrant lifestyle and local culture to La Fonda.
Hailing originally from Sweden, it was Marbella where Victor began his career at Le Méridien, Los Monteros Hotel. It was here that he first gained experience in operations, events, the food and beverage sector and all aspects of the hospitality industry.
This marked the foundation of his career creating his own restaurants, bars and nightclubs, as well as holding a number of positions as Opening Consultant and General Manager for a variety of restaurants, which have since become Marbella institutions, including the celebrated Breathe and the ever popular Hustle n´ Flow, securing his reputation for excellence in this sector.
A graduate from Les Roches Marbella with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Victor is fluent in English, Spanish and Swedish. Having fallen in love with the Costa del Sol and made Marbella his home, Victor will bring his knowledge about the rich diversity of experiences that the city offers to La Fonda.
Boasting gourmet restaurants, open courtyards and a sky-bar, the 20-room boutique hotel will bring Andalusian charm to life in stylish surroundings, celebrating local culture, gastronomy and hospitality.
Once a private residence, it later became a church and then a school, before it was transformed into a luxurious hotel in 1967, eventually becoming the first Michelin-star restaurant in Marbella.
La Fonda is a window into Marbella’s “Golden Years,” as it became the social meeting place for intellectuals, artists and aristocrats, which played a large role in the tourist development of the city.
Restored to its former glory, La Fonda blends past and present and will soon begin an exciting new chapter as a landmark that epitomizes the essence and elegance of Marbella, Spain.
