The company’s first hotel in Spain opens following a seven-year restoration of seven historic buildings in the heart of the capital, debuting a new open-air rooftop restaurant by celebrated Spanish Chef Dani Garcia, as well a spectacular four-level spa retreat.
“Adrian Messerli is an exceptional hotelier with a strong background in both food and beverage, and spa and wellness - the ideal person to lead the team as we open our doors in Madrid this month,” says Simon Casson, President, Hotel Operations - Europe, Middle East and Africa. “This project has been years in the making, and it’s been worth the wait as we soon unveil one of the most beautiful hotels in our portfolio of historic European hotels.”
Swiss born and educated, the multi-lingual Messerli has a Bachelor’s Degree in international Hospitality Management from Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne following his training as a chef, and it’s no surprise that he’s particularly excited to work with Dani Garcia and his team at Dani, as well as the Hotel’s additional outlets Isa and El Patio.
Having been recruited by Four Seasons in 2005, he’s travelled the world, increasing his responsibilities in assignments from the United States to the Caribbean and South America, Europe, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean, where he earned his first General Manager position at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles before moving to Shanghai, China. He is now returning to Europe to open the company’s first property in Spain.
“I knew from the moment I started working at Four Seasons in Chicago that our company is more than just offering a job; it's giving a sense of belonging, where one has the possibility to contribute to an already strongly built foundation,” says Messerli. “I am particularly excited to bring our brand into Spain, hoping that this will be the first of many.”
The 200-room Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, which is also home to 22 Private Residences, is currently extending an Introductory Offer featuring 20 percent savings off the regular room rate.
