Joining Six Senses Con Dao from his previous role of resort general manager at JA Manafaru in the Maldives, Christoph brings more than 25 years of experience to this role, having worked with international and independent hotel groups.
Coming from a strong culinary background as an experienced executive chef, Christoph had extensive experience in Africa leading teams in restaurants as executive chef in South Africa and Tanzania as well as general management roles in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa with the Orient Express group, Abercrombie and Kent and various independent lodges and camps. He has also worked with Anantara as general manager in Abu Dhabi and has been involved with several resort pre-openings.
With a passion for good food along with a keen interest in wines, Christoph’s inspiration for food began at the tender age of six years in Stellenbosch, South Africa where he would don an apron and stand behind the Sunday brunch at The Lanzerac Hotel and Spa in Stellenbosch then graduating to cooking flapjacks at the live cooking station and interacting with guests. Now, 20 years later he held the role as executive sous chef at The Marine Hermanus, a five-star Relais et Chateau property on the clifftops of Hermanus.
Christoph, who is an accomplished scuba diver and amateur photographer describes this posting as a coming home as he is accompanied by his Vietnamese-born wife, Thuy Nguyen.About Six Senses Con DaoSix Senses Con Dao is located in a national and marine park.
