Is it possible to improve upon paradise? This fall, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo will answer that question as the property pulls back the curtains – or jungle canopy if you will – on an even sexier, more modern and lighter version of its lobby, rooms and restaurants.

From the first moment guests will feel the tropical rainforest reverie of the new arrival experience at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica. Billowing, flowing sheers and a colourful mosaic wall treatment will complement and soften the indigenous stone pillars at the hotel's entrance. A dramatic new chandelier hanging above custom-designed social seating will create an eclectic and stylish lobby. Curbside check-in will be offered for those opting for private transfer service from the airport. Guests with a shopping spirit can peruse chic swimsuits, sun hats, sandals and tunics in a new luxury retail area on the right side of the lobby.

Upon room check-in, guests staying in the Resort’s standard accommodations and villas will notice the enhanced lighting, sumptuous fabrics and colours including shades of aqua, kiwi, lavender, magenta and mango as well as more modern and functional furniture and a terrace that feels like an outdoor living room. New lighting will include the addition of a chandelier and bath amenities will incorporate colourful hand painted custom ceramic designs.

“We are very excited to unveil our enhanced guest experience at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica this year,” says Pascal Forotti, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica. “From a gorgeous new look and feel in our accommodations and lobby to a re-imagined and more vibrant restaurant scene, we are taking paradise to a whole new place.”

Exciting and Authentic New Restaurant Options

Whether waking early to a stunning Costa Rican sunrise or at a more leisurely hour, guests will want to follow the delicious aroma of local coffee to a vibrant Tico’s lounge. The beloved bar is being reincarnated as a coffee lounge and rustic bakery in the morning and idyllic lunch and dinner spot with views of the Pacific Ocean, refreshing breezes and casual seating. In a nod to the fascinating history of coffee in Costa Rica, Tico’s updated décor will include the traditional chorreador de café, a wooden coffee-making device with cloth filter still found in many Costa Rican homes.

At night, guests may want to start the evening with a tasting at the new 13-seat wine bar at Cena Sociale, formerly Di Mare restaurant. Wine flights focused on various regions and varieties such as "Pretty in Pink" (rosé) and "Fill in the Blancs" (sauvignon blanc) will be featured. Cena Sociale includes a private dining room that will offer cooking demonstrations three days a week. The private room is also available for events with the option of plated dishes or family style dinners. Cena Sociale will have a more casual and open feel than previously and showcase small and large plates of exquisite local seafood, fresh pastas and pizzettas.

On the other side of Tico’s lounge, the new Sol y Sombra all day restaurant will feature a circular centre bar as an energetic and fun focal point for fresh juice and smoothies, creative cocktails and live entertainment in the evening. A reimagining of the previous restaurants Congo’s and Papagayo, Sol y Sombra incorporates bold and vibrant colours celebrating the blending of cultures in Costa Rica. Sol y Sombra will feature delicious Latin cuisine and a rotisserie among its multitude of offerings.

Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica is partnering with Dallas, Texas-based Paul Duesing Partners on the Resort’s lobby, Spa salon, ballroom, guests room and suite redesign and San Francisco-based EDG Interior Architecture + Design on the restaurant redesign. The property will remain open throughout the year during redesign work with minimal impact on normal business and guest experience.
