The St. Regis Bali Resort is proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive year since its opening four years ago, KAYUPUTI, the signature beachfront Restaurant receives this prestigious award by the world known Wine Spectator Magazine (USA). While for the previous years it was awarded ‘Award of Excellence’, these last 2 years KAYUPUTI has been honoured with ‘Best of Award of Excellent’, making it the first and only restaurant in the whole of Indonesia to win this coveted award.
The success of KAYUPUTI is closely followed by ARWANA, an upscale seafood restaurant of The Laguna Resort & Spa which is a sister property of The St. Regis Bali Resort. This year, for the second time, Wine Spectator has honoured ARWANA with ‘Award of Excellent’ for its outstanding wine list.
Wine Spectator's Restaurant Wine List Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections that are appropriate compliments to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The strict criteria to qualify for an award includes presenting a complete wine list with accurate wine information, including vintages and appellations for all selections as well as wines available by the glass. Complete producer names and correct spellings are mandatory and overall presentation and appearance of the list is also taken into consideration. After meeting these basic requirements, lists are judged for one of three awards. . The amount of different wines is also a big issue. Only when you have more than 100 different wines you can earn the Award of Excellence and only if you have more than 400 wines from all over the world you can receive the Best of Award of Excellence. After meeting these basic requirements, lists are judged for the award.
Harald Wiesmann, Chief Sommelier at The St. Regis Bali Resort, as well as restaurant manager for KAYUPUTI, played a major role in developing and presenting this wine list for KAYUPUTI while assisting I Gede Yudhi Suryawan, the First Sommelier at ARWANA to win the award. Harald reaps this prestigious award for the tenth time, having received the award from Wine Spectator over recent years. Harald is positioning Bali and Indonesia in the world map as a destination for fine wines and cuisine.
