Jeffrey Oliasami has been named general manager of The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in Northeast Florida. In his new position, Oliasami is responsible for overseeing the operations of the 301-room resort, which together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Oliasami joins the St. Augustine, Florida resort from his position as general manager of Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel and Spa, which is connected to the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Under his leadership, the AAA Four-Diamond hotel was widely recognized for its outstanding level of service, strong executive leadership team, community involvement, and the high quality of offerings for groups, business travelers, and leisure guests. Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel and Spa, like The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, is operated by John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts.

Prior to his three-year tenure at Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel and Spa, Oliasami served for 14 years as the hotel general manager of the 508-room Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. During that time he was an active leader in the Ponte Vedra Beach business community, which included serving as president of the Ponte Vedra Chamber of Commerce for two consecutive years. His career also includes management positions with Adams Mark Hotels and the Houstonian Hotel and Club.

“I am very pleased to join The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, and very happy to be back in Northeast Florida,” said Oliasami. “This is an incredible resort that is like brand new after the impressive $10 million property-wide renovation in 2008. Add to that the exceptional recreational offerings at the resort and in the area that appeal to golfers, non-golfers, meeting groups and incentive groups, and you truly have a first-class resort.”

Oliasami added, “I’ve come to The Renaissance Resort to attract more group business, of any size. It is an outstanding resort for groups, which is reinforced by the many prestigious meetings industry awards that are consistently bestowed on the resort, such as The Gold Key Award. Our focus will be on providing an even greater level of guest service for all of our groups and leisure guests – and for doing ‘whatever it takes, as long as it’s legal.’”

In addition to receiving Meetings & Conventions magazine’s “2010 Gold Key Award,” which recognizes the world’s finest meeting facilities, the resort received Medical Meetings magazine’s “2010 M&D Award,” and Meetings & Conventions magazine’s “Gold Tee Award.” In addition, the resort was named one of the “Top 80 Golf Resorts” in the world in a readers’ poll in Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

Located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village right next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort features 301 completely remodeled guest rooms and suites, a dramatically-renovated lobby, newly-remodeled guest room corridors, an expanded fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, enhanced meeting space, and a popular restaurant and bar called 500 South.

Guest rooms and suites feature new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, lighting, 37”flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the Marriott JackPack, which provides complete connectivity to the guests for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players. The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings, crisp white linens, along with a color scheme of warm neutral gold. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar and refrigerator, an in-room safe, and in-room coffee.

The resort also boasts a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with lush foliage and a colorful 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.

Recreational offerings at the resort include two championship golf courses, the popular Slammer & Squire (just steps from The Renaissance Resort), and the renowned King & Bear (co-designed by Arnold “The King” Palmer and Jack “The Bear” Nicklaus). Guests also have access to four additional golf courses within 15 minutes of the resort, for a total of 108 holes of golf.

Additional offerings at the resort include a sauna, pool, hot tub, and full-service concierge.

Guests also are an easy walk to The World Golf Hall of Fame’s 18-hole putting course, a 132-yard Island Challenge Hole, an IMAX® Theater, and the Walk of Champions. In addition, guests can take golf lessons at the renowned PGA TOUR Golf Academy.

When visiting the resort, guests and groups have the opportunity to visit nearby pristine Atlantic beaches, as well as explore historic St. Augustine. Founded in 1565, the area is rich with Spanish architecture, with charming cobblestone streets and many fascinating historical sites such as the historic Castillo de San Marcos fortress, and The Fountain of Youth.
