Pan Pacific Hotels Group has announced the appointment of Nigel Roberts as Vice President, Area Operations, Oceania.
Based in Sydney, Australia, Nigel heads the Group’s operations in Oceania as Pan Pacific Hotels Group expands the portfolio of both its Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL brands in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, he will be responsible for the establishment and measurement of the exacting quality and service standards in line with the overall Group’s branding strategy.
A seasoned hotelier, Nigel brings 36 years of international experience to the role, the last 26 of which he spent in Asia with the Mandarin Oriental, Starwood and Langham hotels in a number of general management and corporate positions.
Nigel commenced his hospitality career with the five-star Imperial Hotel in his native England and moved to Asia in 1984 where he was Resident Manager at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong. This marked the beginning of a long-standing career with the Mandarin Oriental Group where he was General Manager at properties in Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, San Francisco USA and Singapore.
Nigel spent two years in Melbourne as General Manager of Sheraton Towers Southgate before taking on regional responsibility for six Sheraton Hotels in Malaysia and a pre-opening in Hanoi, Vietnam.
More recently Nigel was responsible for the establishment of the business and operational components of the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort in Singapore during its pre-opening.
“Nigel’s extensive international experience in hotel operations is exactly what we need to drive our operations in this new growth region for us,” said A. Patrick Imbardelli, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pan Pacific Hotels Group. “He has an exemplary record in leadership roles and his strategic and performance-driven mindset is key in pulling all the pieces together to kick off our strategic plan and initiatives in Oceania.”
Pan Pacific Hotels Group recently announced its entry into Australia with three hotels PARKROYAL Parramatta and PARKROYAL Darling Harbour Sydney opening in November 2010 and Pan Pacific Perth opening in January 2011.
