Nusa Dua, Bali, December 2009, The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali receives a Gold level recognition in the prestigious Bali’s Tri Hita Karana Tourism Awards (THK). The award is participated by many resorts, hotels, schools, government institutions and tourist attractions in Bali and is organised by Bali Travel News on an annual basis. The award process is based on recognising accommodation operators, institutions and tourist attractions in Bali that embody high levels of service professionalism while at the same time embracing the indigenous spiritual and community values of Balinese culture.
The Gold recognition of Tri Hita Karana Awards recognizes the resort’s commitment to continue the effort to preserve the sustainable environment and Balinese culture to build a harmonious living in the resort and its surrounding communities. The management and ambassadors of The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali actively present the core 3 pillars of Balinese concept of including; Parhyangan, Pawongan and Palemahan. The pillar of Parhyangan is the concept that relates to the harmonious relations between human to their God, Pawongan relates to the harmonious relationship between human to human and Palemahan which highlights the relations between human to its environment. These pillars are very similar to many of the hotels very own ‘Starwood Cares’ pillars including ‘Care to Associates’ (employees), ‘Care to Guests’, ‘Care to Business’ and ‘Care to Community’ which are actively promoted and applied in the resort.
This exceptional award recognition brings The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali to the next level of luxury accommodation to position it amongst others in Bali with high attention, efforts and an ongoing effort to preserve Bali’s natural and cultural heritage to build and maintain a sustainable tourism environment in Bali.
The award ceremony took place at Art Centre Building in Denpasar, Bali on Friday, 4th December 2009 and was attended by high profiles of tourism industry professionals, academia, government officers, non-government organisation activists, media as well as environmental communities in Bali, Jakarta and others city in Indonesia.
Seen in the picture attached The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali team and the General Manager – Mr. David Cuddon (Centre) shared this memorable opportunity with H.E. Professor Dr Emil Salim (in Batik), the former Minister of State for Population and the Environment (1983-1993) and member of Advisory Council to the President of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as the adviser for environment and sustainable development issues of Republic of Indonesia (2007- Present). H.E. Professor Dr Emil Salim is also chaired the Foundation for Sustainable Development and the Kehati Foundation, one of the NGO’s in Indonesia which highly concern to preserve a sustainable environment.
