M Hotel Singapore is pleased to announce the newest member of the M team – Mr Nelson Quek, appointed as the Director of Catering with effect from 24 September 2009. As Director of Catering, Nelson will be responsible for driving business initiatives and increasing market share for corporate meetings, social events and weddings at M Hotel, the premier business hotel located in the heart of the financial district. He will be reporting to Ms Alice Ee, Executive Assistant Manager of Sales and Marketing.
After completing National Service, Nelson began his hospitality career in 2001 as Assistant Banquet Sales Manager at Furama Hotel Singapore and did not look back since. Over the years, he garnered experiences in the divisions of Food and Beverage as well as Sales and Marketing at various hotel chains including Sheraton Towers Singapore and Holiday Inn Atrium Singapore at Outram Road, where he, together with the rest of the team were involved in the hotel’s rebranding exercise from being Concorde Hotel Singapore. Prior to joining M Hotel, Nelson held the
position of Senior Catering Sales Manager at Fairmont Hotel Singapore and was tasked with identifying new business prospects and handling of all outdoor catering and conferences enquiries.
Mr Clement Teo, General Manager of M Hotel welcomes Nelson to the team, ‘In light of the gradual recovery of the economy coupled with market competition which will be intensified with the extensive conference facilities at nearby Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, it is imperative for Nelson to constantly look out for new opportunities and implement strategies to increase market penetration for M Hotel. He will lead and manage the Catering Sales department and also constantly ensure the team continues to engage all their customers so as to maintain guest retention.’
