The recent opening of the luxury Wyndham® Xiamen hotel on the waterfront introduced three new restaurants offering international cuisine to the local dining scene.

The Hotel’s Chinese restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine and Xinnan Xuan regional specialties. Le Rivage Café, an elegant restaurant, overlooks Gulangyu Island. JuJu An serves sushi and teppanyaki decorated with materials from the natural world. The hotel also features sushi and teppanyaki counters in a lobby dining area.

Preparing beloved dishes of the past in full view of appreciative diners, the Chinese restaurant serves up healthy and contemporary Cantonese cuisine and Xinnan Xuan classics during the week and Dim Sum on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu includes a varied selection of Chinese and International wines.

Signature Xinnan Xuan dishes include double-boiled duck soup, poached fish with yam in coconut milk and braised shark’s fin soup with oats. Other specialties include the chilled sea worm jelly, deep-fried bean curd roll with pork and spices, steamed glutinous rice dumping stuffed with pork and Xiamen rice noodle soup.

Leading the redevelopment of the Chinese restaurant is Chef Jia Shaodong, whose culinary experience includes executive chef positions at luxury hotels in Kunming, Xi’An, Jinan, Guangzhou, Shenyang and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Le Rivage is positioned as the “meeting point between international buffet and the relaxed environment of a Parisian cafe.” Le Rivage offers fresh seafood, meat and vegetable dishes for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Eastern twists are given to Le Rivage dishes including grilled Australian beef tenderloin with Asian abalone sauce, pan-fried salmon with Sichuan pepper sauce and baked codfish with coriander chili sauce.

JuJu An serves a blend of fine Japanese cuisine in the form of a la carte options, sushi served at the counter and teppanyaki. Master Chef Hiromi Yoshikawa, a native of Osaka, Japan, prepares traditional dishes as well as innovative and modern interpretations.

The hotel’s Lobby Lounge is a trendy spot on the casual cocktail scene. The Wyndham Xiamen team of professional bartenders prepares “fun and flirty beverages” such as Lolita, made with aloe yogurt and dark and light rums garnished with a cherry and slice of peach on the glass’ rim. Another favorite, Magic Eyes, blends plain yogurt, brandy and banana liqueur in a champagne glass, garnished with strawberry ice cream.

The hotel’s Cafe Terrace, an outdoor café, is scheduled to open soon.
