- Will Spearhead Repositioning of Acclaimed Five-Star Algarve Resort -
VILA VITA Portugal, the anchor of which is the Five Star VILA VITA Parc luxury resort that celebrates the very best of Portugal, has named accomplished international hotelier Luís Fernandes the CEO.
“VILA VITA Parc is widely known in Europe as Portugal’s finest resort, combining timeless elegance, style and personalized guest experiences in a sensual and lush seaside oasis,” said Mr. Fernandes. “Now we are going to introduce VILA VITA’s enchanting Portuguese hospitality to the United States and elsewhere.”
His top priority in taking the reins of VILA VITA Portugal is to spearhead the repositioning of VILA VITA Parc as an international, ultra-luxury resort. Among the other components of VILA VITA Portugal – both part of the diverse guest experience at VILA VITA Parc – are Herdade des Grous, a country estate recognized for its award-winning wines, and Arte Naútica, one of Portugal’s best seafood restaurants located at a nearby beach club.
Mr. Fernandes comes to VILA VITA with two decades of worldwide experience in operating top luxury properties. Most recently, he was executive vice president of hotel operations for Kor Hotel Group, where he oversaw the launch of the Tides and Viceroy brands. Previously, he was the managing director of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort, located in Los Cabos, Mexico, where he oversaw innovative guest services and amenities that made Five Diamond Las Ventanas one of the world’s most heralded resorts.
“The Algarve is Portugal’s paradise destination – offering everything from stunning natural beauty and gourmet cuisine and wines to year-round climate and world-class beaches and golf – yet it’s little known in the United States,” explained Mr. Fernandes, who is launching VILA VITA Parc’s first marketing campaign in the U.S. “Exposing Americans to more information about the Algarve and the authentic guest experience at VILA VITA Parc will ignite interest in the destination and bring a growing number of visitors from the states to our resort.”
VILA VITA Parc celebrates all the best of Portugal, immersing guests in űber-luxurious and authentic Portuguese experiences in a stunning seaside setting with every imaginable service and amenity. The Five Star resort wraps each guest in pampered, personalized pleasures imbued with Portuguese culture and hospitality. Among the highlights of VILA VITA Parc are:
A wide choice of accommodations, from rooms and suites to villas and residences, all exquisitely appointed and featuring terraces, balconies and ocean and flower-filled garden views.
A range of casual and gourmet cuisines at eight different restaurants, complemented by Portugal’s best wine cellar with more than 11,000 bottles.
A spectacular ambiance of 54 acres perched above the Atlantic Ocean that juxtaposes the distinctive Moorish-influenced architecture of the Algarve with lush, blooming sub-tropical gardens, a dramatic rocky coastline and the most beautiful private beach in Portugal boasting an arc of finely grained sand set on a small romantic bay with aquamarine water protected by cliffs on both sides.
The VILA VITA Vital Spa with a health and beauty center, a holistic medical wellness program and an Ice Grotto.
A luxury yacht for excursions to untouched sandy beaches and intriguing grottos.
The absolute gamut of indoor and outdoor sports and recreation including the full range of water sports, boating and deep-sea fishing.
Golfing on Portugal’s best courses, including San Lorenzo, which are within minutes of the resort.
The Herdade dos Grous (Country Estate of the Cranes) is 1,465 acres of vineyards, flowering gardens, olive and orange groves where guests of VILA VITA Parc can learn about horse breeding, organic farming and the cultivation of award-winning wines. Among the awards garnered by the wine estate is 2004 best red wine of the Alentejo region, known for its robust vintages due to the soil’s content of lime, loam, sand and especially magnesium. Many of the foods served at the resort are produced at the wine estate, and guests often visit Herdade dos Grous for a tour, to relax in the country ambiance and enjoy a gourmet meal.
Mr. Fernandes also has served in executive positions with acclaimed properties in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and South America including: The Dharmawangsa, in Jakarta, Indonesia, where as managing director he positioned it as the country’s top hotel and the social hub of the elite of Indonesian society; the famous Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa; the Grande Dame of Rio de Janeiro, The Copacabana Palace; and the renowned Hotel Al Khozama in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
