Carlson Hotels Worldwide Promotes Ed Holliday to Vice President of Development

Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced the promotion of Ed Holliday to the position of vice president of development for Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Mid-East United States for all of the company’s full and select service hotel brands. These brands include: Regent Hotels & Resorts (regenthotels.com); Radisson® Hotels & Resorts (radisson.com), Park Plaza® Hotels & Resorts (parkplaza.com), Country Inns & Suites By CarlsonSM (countryinns.com) and Park Inn® (parkinn.com).

Holliday was formerly the director of development in this region for two of the company’s brands, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson SM and Park Inn®. He has been with Carlson Hotels for the past 10 years. Holliday reports directly to Nancy Johnson, chief development officer for Carlson Hotels Worldwide.

Holliday is responsible for overseeing both franchise and managed developments in h his region for the company’s five hotel brands. “Ed brings a wealth of experience in hospitality development that has been extremely valuable in assisting hotel owners, developers and lenders,” said Johnson. “He understands the hotel business at every level having started his career in operations and serving in roles as a general manager up to a vice president of operations. He also served as president of a management company.”

Holliday brings more than 35 years of industry experience. Before joining Carlson, he held several senior development and management positions at Prime Hospitality Corporation, Montgomery Inns, Inc., and served as President of Paragon Management Company, a subsidiary of Victor Management Company. He began his hospitality career with Hilton Corporation, holding several positions in hotel operations, including assistant manager of the 1,100-room Washington Hilton. He also served as a General Manager of Boar’s Head Inn, a four-star resort hotel.

Holliday has a degree in Business Administration and Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Hotel and Motel Association, the Virginia Restaurant Association, the State of Virginia Travel Council and President of the Charlottesville Hotel Association. He has served as an adjunct instructor for Johnson & Wales University, teaching courses in the hospitality field and served on the Advisory Board of the Travel and Hospitality Department of Commonwealth College providing recommendations on hospitality courses.
