Food and wine enthusiasts won't want to miss a unique dinning experience April 15 when Opus One, one of the most prominent vineyards in the United States, hosts a Winemaker's Dinner at Iridescence restaurant. Much-admired for its sophisticated Napa Valley blends, Opus One will feature a selection of its finest wines to accompany a seven course Degustation menu. Hosted by vineyard representative Gina Voci, the featured wines include 1995, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Opus One vintages, plus the appealing Robert Mondavi Moscato d' Oro, which will accompany dessert.
Iridescence, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant and winner of the 2008 Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, recently celebrated its first anniversary in its new space 17 stories above the city at the top of MotorCity Casino Hotel.
Chef de cuisine Adam Hightower and Executive Pastry Chef Tricia Nash shaped the exquisite menu to highlight the Opus One wine selection. Lamb shank ravioli, braised tallgrass beef crepinette and chocolate pate are just a few highlights of the rich and inventive menu the chefs have crafted for the dinner.
"People want to eat delicious creations, drink spectacular wines and have a good time. The Iridescence Winemaker's Dinners do just that," said Lucio Arancibia, vice president of food and beverage. The April 15 event is the fourth in a series of Winemaker's Dinner events at Iridescence, which launched last fall. The restaurant is the only large fine dining establishment to offer such events and is booking additional engagements with winemakers from all regions, including highly accomplished Michigan wineries. "Wine-tasting dinners tend to create steady customers, but more importantly allow us the unique opportunity to showcase our first class cuisine and service with globally acclaimed wines."
Iridescence, perched 15 stories above the city, offers breathtaking views of the Detroit skyline. The unprecedented environment is highlighted by a unique climate and humidity controlled wine wall that houses more than 300 bottles of premium wines in a 40 ft. tall illuminated case. A full selection of Opus One wines is available on Iridescence's new wine menu.
Reservations for this limited seating engagement are available by calling Iridescence at (313) 237-6732. Cost for the event, which includes the seven course menu with wine pairings, is $190 per guest plus tax and gratuity. A cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the dinner commencing at 7:30 p.m.
