Mr. Christopher Newbery appointed as General Manager, The Leela Kempinski, Mumbai
The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Christopher Newbery as General Manager, The Leela Kempinski, Mumbai. His last assignment was with Serena Hotel, Kabul as General Manager and Head of Operations.
Mr. Newberry is a very experienced hotelier and brings with him close to over two decades of valuable experience in hospitality management and operations, in various capacities spanning over multiple Business and Resort Hotels across the globe.
Welcoming the appointment of Mr. Newberry, Mr. Rajiv Kaul, Sr. Vice President said, “Christopher is an accomplished hotelier and he has lead The Leela Kempinski, Mumbai in the past and we are delighted to have him back with us.”
Mr. Newberry has been associated with prestigious international hotel chains including the Intercontinental Hotels Group, Kempinski and Hilton. His key assignments include signature properties of Intercontinental, including the Crowne Plaza Jinan, and Beijing. His hotel management experience also includes working with properties like Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center, Disneyland Paris, Euro Disney SCA, Yaounde Hilton, Cameroon, Madagascar Hilton, London Hilton On Park Lane and Paris Hilton. He was also the General Manager of The Leela Kempinski Mumbai during the period October 1995 to 1997.
Having successfully directed hotel development, product enhancement, up-gradation and concept development, he brings profitable and practical expertise of managing world-class hotels. He is recognized for his exemplary achievements, unrelenting commitment and leadership qualities.
Hotel LeelaVenture Ltd. owns and operates The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa and Kovalam (Kerala). New hotels will soon open in Gurgaon (2009), Udaipur (2009), Chennai (late 2009) and New Delhi (2010); with future plans to develop hotels in Agra, Hyderabad and Pune. The group has marketing alliances with Kempinski (Hoteliers since 1897); US based Preferred Hotel Group and are members of Global Hotel Alliance headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
