The luxury liner adds MSC Orchestra and MSC Poesia to its extensive cruise collection

MSC Cruises, the world’s premiere luxury cruise liner, prepares for a thrilling 2009-2010 cruise seasons with the long-anticipated introduction of MSC Orchestra and MSC Poesia.

MSC Orchestra
MSC Orchestra’s inaugural Caribbean sailing season received a warm, watery welcome from several tugboats heralding her arrival into Port Everglades, Florida, USA since January 2009. The largest of MSC Cruises’ line of high-end cruise ships sailing in North American waters, the MSC Orchestra boasts 92,400 gross tons, and can carry up to 2,550 passengers. A true example of luxury living on the sea, the majority of the MSC Orchestra’s staterooms has private balconies overlooking the many destinations of the ship’s voyages.

An emblem of elegance and style, the MSC Orchestra claims more than 236,800 square feet of public area and 5 restaurants with a variety of flavours to suit the tastes of every guest. Restaurants include L’Ibiscus, Villa Borghese, La Piazzetta, Four Seasons and the Shanghai Chinese restaurant, the only dedicated Chinese restaurant at sea. MSC Orchestra also features 10 bars (two of which are open air), 3 meeting and conference rooms, a 21-foot by 12-foot outdoor LED screen, and the illustrious Body and Mind Spa, occupying an astonishing 16,146 feet squared.

From now to April 18, 2009, the MSC Orchestra will sail the following alternating 7-night courses:

•Eastern Caribbean, Calling at Cayo Levantado, Dominican Republic; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. John, Antigua; and Nassau, Bahamas, as well as two days at sea.

•Western Caribbean, Calling at Key West, Florida; Cozumel, Mexico; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Cayo Levantado, Dominican Republic, and two days at sea.

A special 7-night roundtrip Bermuda sailing departs Fort Lauderdale April 25. This itinerary includes three days in King’s Wharf, Bermuda and a day in Nassau, Bahamas, as well as two days at sea.

MSC Orchestra also features the exclusive Shorex Program which offers an extensive range of activities for guests to choose from. For each destination on the ship’s itinerary, guests can opt for a half day tour of their city, a beach retreat, or perhaps snorkelling off a boat in the middle of the ocean alongside sea animals. Costa Maya, in Mexico, for example, offers catamaran sailing and snorkelling, a dolphin swim encounter, and an adventure tour of the Chaccoben Mayan ruins. The stop in Grand Caymans also offers introductory scuba lessons, kayaking, and swimming with stingrays.

In celebration of her inaugural season, the MSC Orchestra will host some of baseball’s greatest stars on its February 28, March 28 and April 11 Eastern Caribbean itineraries. On each of these special sailings, the Orchestra’s guests will have the exclusive opportunity to receive unique insights into the world of American Major League Baseball as seen through the eyes of some of the greats of the game.

MSC Orchestra is scheduled to depart Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 2, 2009 for an 18-night voyage that will include a two-day visit to New York before heading eastbound to Copenhagen, Denmark. The itinerary includes calls at Ponta Delgado, Azores; Lisbon, Portugal; Vigo, Spain; La Coruna, Spain; and Dover, England before arriving in Copenhagen.

On every sailing of the MSC Orchestra, guests will enjoy the line’s premiere and highly acclaimed entertainment, European-style ambiance, dishes from “La Cucina Italiana,” and top-of-the-line pampering.

MSC Poesia
Joining MSC Orchestra in the 2009-2010 seasons is the elegantly refined MSC Poesia. Featuring itinieraries of 3, 5, 7, 8, and 10 nights to stunning locations across the Caribbean and Bermuda, MSC Poesia will be quick to join the ranks of the most lusted-after luxury vacations.

MSC Poesia will arrive in Fort Lauderdale, USA on November 10, 2009 after a 17-night transatlantic voyage from Venice, Italy. Her Caribbean season itinerary will then commence, lasting through April 27, 2010, at which point she will make an 18-night sailing to Kiel, Germany.

Featuring 1,275 staterooms, 236,000 square feet of public space, 2 pools, 4 hot tubs and a 13,000 square foot spa, MSC Poesia lacks nothing short of the finest. Dining options include 4 delectable restaurant venues, and include the fresh and creative dishes of the Sushi Bar for those seeking an alternative dining experience. Like her sister ship, MSC Orchestra, MSC Poesia is well-equipped with sophisticated and stunning décor, the highest level of attention to detail, and the ultimate experience in international entertainment and traditional Italian hospitality.
