Thanks to the International Caseus Award contest, cheese and the cheese trade have joined the elite of worldwide gastronomy.

The 3rd edition, held at Lyon on January 24th as part of the Sirha trade exhibition, brought together the very best cheeses in the world, also know-how and cultures from the four corners of the planet.

Twelve countries, each represented by two cheese specialists, took part in the 3rd edition of the International Caseus Award contest: Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United-States.

In this 2009 edition, featuring Westcombe Cheddar, the 12 teams had seven hours in which to submit to a series of tests: installation of a cheese stall, cutting test, blind tasting, sales simulation, presentation of their own refined cheeses, wrapping and packing, answering a multiple choice questionnaire on PDO cheeses...

The ceremony for the presentation of the prizes took place on January 24th, 2009, in the presence of Hervé Mons, President-Founder of the contest.
