With the year coming to a close, Banyan Tree Group has garnered over 60 international awards and accolades, surpassing the number of awards won in 2007 and increasing the total number of awards received to over 400 since the first Banyan Tree property opened 14 years ago. With over 40 resorts in the pipeline, the awards reflect Banyan Tree’s sustainable growth and expansion as a leading manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels and spas in the Asia Pacific and beyond.
The group’s highly acclaimed properties in Yunnan, China, Banyan Tree Lijiang and Banyan Tree Ringha have been recognised as two of the Best 100 Hotels in China by China Top Hotels. With judges comprising hotel, design, business, fashion and media professionals, the China Top Hotels Awards are well regarded regionally. With Banyan Tree’s growing presence in China, this recognition is testament to the following the Group has garnered in the region and the signature Banyan Tree brand experience it is renowned for.
Adding another feather in its hat is the newly opened Banyan Tree Sanya. China’s first all-pool villa resort was named as one of the Best of the Best Resort Hotels in the inaugural Chinese edition of Robb Report. Banyan Tree Sanya joins just five new properties around the world as the best new resort hotels of 2008. Featuring 61 villas set amidst a sculpted tropical lagoon on an expansive estate, the resort is designed as an exclusive oceanfront hideaway and comes with Banyan Tree Spa’s first hydrothermal complex in Asia.
The exclusively private Banyan Tree Madivaru was recognised in DestinAsian 2008 Luxe List. The Luxe List showcases Asia’s top new hotels and resorts and this year, Banyan Tree Madivaru was highlighted for providing ‘tented luxury in the Maldives’. A first in the Maldives, Banyan Tree Madivaru consists of a private cluster of six exquisite Tented Pool Villas set in the North Ari Atoll. Equipped with in-villa spa services, each tented villa also comes with a dedicated Island Host, who will attend to guests’ requests round the clock.
Banyan Tree’s flagship resort, Banyan Tree Phuket affirms its position not only as one of Asia’s leading resorts but one of the world’s best, after being voted as one of Forbes Traveler’s 2008 Best 400 Hotels in The World. Not to be outdone, the recently established Banyan Tree Bahrain and Angsana Riads Collection Morocco were also included in Forbes Traveler’s list as one of 2008’s 50 Best New Hotels in the World. The prestigious Forbes Traveler list includes the world's best hotels and resorts and is selected a distinguished board of travel experts.
On a corporate level, Banyan Tree Holdings Limited has been awarded the Most Transparent Company - Hotels & Restaurants in the 2008 Investors’ Choice Awards organised by the Securities Investors Association of Singapore (SIAS).
