Asia Luxury Travel Market (ALTM), now in its third year, is to be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 15th-18th June 2009 following the success and record attendance of the 2008 event.
ALTM is dedicated solely to the luxury travel industry in Asia Pacific, an area of vast growth potential and is the sister event to the highly successful International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) held annually in Cannes, France now entering its seventh year.
Organised like a private club, the invitation-only event showcases leading luxury travel suppliers to hosted VIP travel buyers. The exhibition takes place in a highly exclusive environment in which buyers and sellers meet on a unique pre-arranged appointment system.
Ann Marie Meaney, Event Manager, ALTM said “The success of Asia Luxury Travel Market 2008 firmly positions the industry’s need for a unique, appointment led luxury travel event. With the current global economic uncertainty, it has never been a more crucial time to place value and importance on the power of face to face business. ALTM 2009 continues to provide an unrivalled intraregional and outbound travel platform of quantifiable opportunities for the Asian Pacific markets.”
The feedback from both exhibitors and buyers at ALTM 2008 was phenomenal with many exhibitors already committed to returning for 2009 including The Leading Hotels of the World, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Jumeirah Hotels, Silversea Cruises, Sina Fine Italian Hotels, Amanresorts, Peninsula Hotels, Conde Nast Johansens, Six Senses Resorts & Spas and Design Hotels. Newcomers include Prestige Hotels of the World and Switzerland Tourism.
Many of the exhibitor’s comments following ALTM 2008 highlighted ALTM’s standing as Asia’s leading luxury travel trade event. “ALTM Shanghai is a great show for any luxury property that have Asia Pacific as their major feeder market and for those who wish to expand that market.” said Renata Hutasoit, Director of Sales and Marketing, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts Bali.
“Once again as an exhibitor we were impressed with the number of luxury travel agents and tour operators from all over Asia and Australasia. The efficiency of seeing so many quality buyers from such a wide area makes ALTM an essential part of our annual calendar” commented Mark Witney, Chief Operating Officer, Singita Game Reserves.
This view was echoed by many other exhibitors including Christian L. Renz, Vice President Global Sales, Kempinski Hotels, “ALTM 2008 has been very successful for Kempinski in this rapidly growing outbound market. The quality as well as the quantity of client interactions was very encouraging and we are looking forward to participate with a greater number of hotels next year.”
At ALTM 2008, the event saw exhibitor and buyers numbers double from the previous year with over 17,000 appointments held over three days.
“ALTM provided a great forum for us to meet new buyers from Asia and allowed us to build new relationships with so many interesting people” said Matthew Upchurch, CEO, Virtuoso. “We had 24 buyers and over 150 suppliers at ALTM and we welcome every opportunity to interact and work with our existing network. The ALTM team again put together a great event, with top notch networking opportunities and high quality attendees. We are excited with each year to come back to ALTM to solidify our relationships in this region, build new links to these exciting markets and build our knowledge to help with our development and global expansion.”
ALTM is organized by Reed Travel Exhibitions.
