Dusit International has appointed its first Vice President Talent Management, Justin Lee, to develop a human resources strategy and to help ensure the smooth integration of Dusit International’s expansion.

“As we are expanding rapidly in the world’s markets, the need for quality people to serve in each of our properties is essential. People are the core element in hospitality services, and we know that in order to achieve true success, we need to develop their talent to help us strive for excellence,” said Octavio Gamarra, Senior Vice President, Dusit International.

He added “The appointment of our first Vice President Talent Management stems from our commitment to seek and develop quality people to work in Dusit International’s properties worldwide. Justin has exceptional experience in human resources development from working in a huge range of international markets including Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East. His expertise thus lies in the area of multicultural human resources management, which will greatly help us with our overseas expansion.”

Justin Lee completed his Diploma from Stamford College of Hotel Management under American Hotel & Lodging in Malaysia and joined A&W Restaurants, where he became responsible for the daily operations of three different restaurants. He then joined McDonalds Singapore, where he was responsible for managing and opening new restaurants. Justin was subsequently promoted to a training consultant role within the company.

Justin then decided to focus on a hospitality industry career, beginning at Hilton International as a Training Officer. Developing his human resources skills, he went on to work as Assistant Human Resources Manager at Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur and then became Training Manager at the Renaissance hospitality chain.

Fresh challenges came along when Justin was initially appointed as Director of Training and Development of the Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur. As an expansion of his responsibilities, he was appointed by the owners, YTL Hotels, as Joint Director of Training and Development for the Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur and JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur. In 2002, Justin was appointed as Director of Human Resources at the Ritz Carlton, Dubai, with talent management responsibilities for all properties in the Middle East. During his time there, he also authored and won the coveted Dubai Quality Gold Award in 2006 for the hotel.

Justin next took up an appointment with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as Regional Director of Human Resources, Middle East and Africa before being appointed Vice President Talent Management at Dusit International.

Justin Lee is an active hospitality trainer and expert in Middle East operations, especially in the area of talent development and organisational effectiveness, of supervisory and leadership effectiveness, operations management, and human resources management.
