The Inn at Langley's two new master suites are finally open and ready for summer. These are our greatest rooms yet, complete with deluxe kitchens and living areas with fireplaces - perfect for taking in the amazing water views. The Saratoga Suite has over 220 degrees of view with Saratoga Passage as the focal point. The two-bedroom Gallery Suite features a vast deck large enough for 20 of your closest friends or perhaps for you to enjoy in peaceful Langley solitude.

The farmers markets are in full swing on Whidbey Island and the stone fruit from the East side is particularly exciting - cherries are always a favorite! Pitted and roasted after being tossed in a good balsamic vinegar creates an intense and savory sauce for poultry or pork. All of this, on a bed of thick slices of sweet local onions from Ebbey's prairie, cooked just tender with brandy and rosemary and a great big grind of black pepper to round it out with warmth. At The Inn at Langley, our garden connoisseur Lynn has started planting the kitchen garden and the first shoots of fresh herbs are showing themselves. Sweet cicely, chervil that grows well on Whidbey, brightens sweet fruit desserts, adding a smooth, slightly anise flavor similar to that of tarragon. The flowers that come with the spring sprouts add a subtle garnish for all kinds of dishes. Pulling the rosemary bloom out just before serving it on roasted king salmon really adds a freshness that lemon alone can't bring. These are my inspirations for the cuisine at The Inn at Langley's restaurant.

The Inn at Langley is in the planning stages of "The Langley Culinary Academy," a collaboration of Langley chefs to provide cooking classes, demonstrations, and an open kitchen for up to 40 guests to let their inner chefs shine. The academy will be located in the marina area of Langley, a short 10-minute walk from The Inn to the waterfront. Stay tuned for more information...
