Nearly 70 years of history between Club Med and Greece
Present in Greece since 1955, Club Med is constantly improving its welcome and infrastructures to offer an ever more complete all-inclusive holiday experience and keeps innovating to meet the needs of its customers in search of disconnection and authenticity, to the rhythm of the gentle Greek way of life.
In 1977, Club Med opened its Gregolimano Resort, nestled at the foot of a mountain in the heart of a 19-hectare park on the edge of the Aegean Sea.
In 2024, after several phases of work over the last two years, the Resort is unveiling different new features designed by TechKM, the project architect, and Jean-Philippe Nuel, the interior designer
A first renovation phase was revealed to guests in the summer of 2023: the main restaurant and most of the rooms had been redesigned, along with the wellness area and spa.
The second phase, completed in 2024, provided the Resort with a new extension in the heart of the pine forest, with 58 rooms built around a Zen swimming pool, a beach bar and a new Mini Club for children.
In addition to these new facilities for customers, the hotel has also created new accommodation to house 52 employees. Around €30 million have been invested in this transformation by Praemia Reim and Club Med.
Club Med Gregolimano: the energy of an unspoiled Greek island
Located on the island of Evia, between the pine forest and the beach, on the shores of the Aegean Sea, Club Med Gregolimano invites you to escape to the heart of Greek nature and culture.
This resort is a place to relax or be active, sporty and festive, and celebrates local flavours and gastronomy. In terms of activities, in addition to the existing offer and the Resort's ideal location with direct access to the beach, the water sports area has also been redesigned. New padel courts and a new yoga area facing the sea complete the all-inclusive offer of Club Med Gregolimano.
For this occasion, Henri Giscard d'Estaing, President of Club Med, declared: « Club Med and Greece share a long story since the opening of the first Greek Resort on Corfu Island, nearly 70 years ago, in 1955. We are proud to unveil today the result of our recent investments to renovate and extend Club Med Gregolimano, this iconic Resort settled on this exceptional and preserved site since 1977. This Resort is more than ever a flagship for Club Med, offering vacations for couples and families in a festive, sportive and convivial atmosphere, l’Esprit Libre. While Club Med is ready to celebrate its 75th anniversary, we never had such a beautiful resort portfolio and that is what can be experienced in Club Med Gregolimano. »
An environmentally friendly extension
For many years, Club Med has been actively committed to responsible tourism, implementing numerous measures as part of its ‘Happy to Care’ program.
The Gregolimano Resort is no exception. Water and energy saving, selective sorting, certifications, employment and support for local communities: everything has been thought out and put in place to protect and respect the environment.
First, as part of its commitment to respect for the environment and sustainable development, the Resort is Green Globe certified, one of the most demanding international and independent sustainable tourism certifications.
In addition, 100% of new Club Med Resorts and renovations are BREEAM certified.
This independent eco-construction label is recognized as one of the most demanding in the world, and considers a number of criteria, including the preservation of biodiversity, the sourcing of the building materials used and energy impact.
The aim being: to reduce the carbon footprint.
In this way, Club Med Gregolimano is seeking BREEAM ‘Good’ certification for its extension work, which included the use of sustainably sourced timber.
Domestic hot water is produced by some 600 sq m of thermal solar panels and a heat pump energy recovery system. In addition, trees have been preserved in the pine forest, local species have been integrated into the gardens, and irrigation is controlled thanks to a choice of plants that consume little water.
As for the new rooms and suites, the two-story buildings in which they are located have entirely green roofs. With the ‘Bye-Bye Plastics’ program, Club Med is committed to eliminating single-use plastics in the bars, restaurants and rooms of each of its Resorts around the world. Water fountains have also been installed to complete the system.
