The “Ô Service - des talents de demain” association continues to stand out for its many initiatives and events aimed at promoting and passing on skills in the hotel and fine dining industries. In this year rich in projects, Denis Courtiade shares with the Journal des Palaces the latest news and upcoming highlights.

From the Youth Olympics to the EquipHotel conference

Since the start of the year, Ô Service has been involved in several high-profile events. One of these was the Youth Olympics, organized under the aegis of the Société des membres de la Légion d'honneur. Denis Courtiade, along with Caroline Ravenet, Educational Manager at Méderic, the Paris hotel school, and Sarahlena Barry, Head Waiter at the Plaza Athénée, ran workshops on the “five senses of the head waiter”, reaching over 2,500 young people. Denis Courtiade stresses that the association's leitmotiv is to “raise awareness, promote and pass on”.

The association doesn't stop there. It has also taken part in the Concours Général des Lycées et des Métiers(aCompetition of High Schools and Trades), organized webinars on careers and training in the hotel and restaurant industry, and shared its expertise at a masterclass with Euro-Toques France. Events such as the annual Ô Service competition and the Frédéric Delair Trophy at the Tour d'Argent also illustrate the association's ongoing commitment to excellence and conviviality in service.

Ô Service on the international stage

The association has enjoyed exemplary stability but is no less dynamic in its development. Denis Courtiade describes the association's “desire to expand to include new members from all over Europe, as well as from abroad: England, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Greece, and Dubai”. The aim of this international opening is to “pool experience and expertise”, creating an enriched and diversified network.

This summer, the Paris Olympic Games are the focus of the association's members' attention. “Let's be optimistic and happy as we work through this incredible period ahead of us. Guests from all over the world will be coming to Paris, Versailles… to attend this event. Let's all live up to their expectations”, encourages Denis Courtiade. This will be an opportunity for the members of Ô Service to demonstrate “together that France is, and will remain, the country of hospitality, where the art of living is celebrated with professionalism and humanity”.

Upcoming projects and events

The end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 will be marked by several key events. Ô Service's Annual General Meeting will be held on 14 October in the Lenôtre lounges at the Pré Catelan in Paris. This annual meeting of members will celebrate the winners of the events organized during 2023-2024, such as the “Young Talent Trophy”, the “Trophy for the transmission of a philosophy and motivation for a profession”, the “School Project Trophy” and the “Coup de Coeur Trophy”.

The AGM will be followed by the “Korian - Arts de la Table” competition on 17 October, before the highlight on 7 November, with a conference entitled “Dare - three generations, three points of view” at the EquipHotel trade fair in Paris. Denis Courtiade also announced his sponsorship of the Escoffier competition in the service category on 15 November, and the association's partnership with Tables & Auberges in the innovative breakfast competition on 27 November.

Another not-to-be-missed event is the Maître d'hôtel Trophy, the fifth edition of which will be held in two stages, with the semi-finals on 28 October and the final on 25 January at Sirha in Lyon. Finally, there are rumours of a European meeting being planned to celebrate the start of 2025, promising an exceptional day dedicated to maîtres d'hôtel.

With so many projects in the pipeline, the Ô Service association continues to play a central role in promoting and developing the talents of tomorrow. For Denis Courtiade and his members, each event is another opportunity to prove that French-style service remains a global benchmark for hospitality and excellence.
