Specialising in safaris and holidays in the heart of the African wilderness, Singita has decided to open a branch in Paris in order to attract new customers and develop its business in the European market.

The immense wilderness of the African savannah has always attracted lovers of wide open spaces and wildlife. Protected places where nature expresses itself without hindrance, where lionesses hunt while hippos submerge themselves between two territorial battles to escape the sun's bite. The same sun that repaints this grandiose setting, giving it brightness and vivacity as it rises and orange notes as it disappears over the horizon.

For 30 years, Singita has made this ever-changing spectacle its 'office' and a special place to welcome its customers, in search of serenity, a change of scenery and an extraordinary experience, at its 15 lodges in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Rwanda. "These properties offer travellers the perfect privacy and space to discover the extraordinary uniqueness of nature in Africa (...) Places where you can recharge your batteries in the face of majestic nature, where you can rediscover a form of silence without the noise of civilisation," Léa Séguier, who is in charge of the European market for Singita and has just arrived in Paris, promises Journal des Palaces.

Winning over a new market

Representation in France is a strategic move for the company, which aspires to attract new customers and sees Europe as a buoyant market. Léa Séguier has been given the task of presenting Singita and its activities to professionals, as well as organising trips where necessary. This is an essential role in helping the brand to move forward and continue to convey its message and values. "We're targeting travellers who love quality and freedom and want to discover Africa through our eco-tourism values", explains the Parisian ambassador.

After all, Singita believes that holidays should be both conscious and value-driven. "Travellers leave Singita transformed by their experience! Not just because of an exceptional safari in a unique setting, but also because they come back aware of the environmental cause and happy to have contributed to preserving Africa's natural heritage", says the representative in Paris. It all starts with these luxuriously appointed lodges, offering all the comforts that customers have a right to expect from a top-of-the-range establishment, and set in picture-postcard scenery such as the Serengeti or the Kruger National Park. "The lodges have exceptional locations, like Singita Mara River Tented Camp in Lamai, Tanzania, on a river where you can watch the great migration. Each tent has a view of the river," explains Léa Séguier.
Isolated living spaces, designed to be independent and sustainable, where customers can enjoy a private swimming pool and terraces with breathtaking views, as well as a car and driver.

A local commitment

In addition to the services it offers, Singita stands out for its commitment to preserving the environment. "We have partnerships with sponsors who support our work, but we are also the direct guardians and protectors of the vast wilderness areas that we own and where we are responsible for maintaining the balance and conserving the species", says Léa Séguier, referring to the rhino rehabilitation projects in South Africa (Rehabilitation and rewilding of orphan rhino). Singita is responsible for maintaining, protecting and enriching almost a million hectares of land.

A commitment to nature and local populations. "We are also responsible for the development and well-being of all the communities that live around our lodges and that we support in their educational and economic projects, in line with our environmental values", adds the Parisian ambassador. Here too, a number of initiatives are being taken to improve living conditions, such as Malilangwe Trust, Singita Lowveld Trust, Grumeti Fund (African Wildlife Conservation at Singita) or the Singita Community Culinary School, which since 2007 has been working with the specialist Prue Leith Culinary School to train young South Africans, Tanzanians and Rwandans in the culinary arts, with excellent job prospects. This support also takes the form of study grants, internships and distance learning courses for isolated communities. These courses are aimed at children as well as adults, both men and women. "We encourage and support the creation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as local agricultural cooperatives, which supply the local products we sell in our lodges, such as honey, handicrafts and artistic creations. We also encourage our customers to support these projects through our partner foundations," she adds.

These actions add an extra dimension to an already exceptional, timeless experience. Through its sensitivity and philosophy, Singita aims to be the custodian of another way of conceiving safari through responsible and conscious tourism, with refined luxury in a natural setting. This experience will soon be available in a sixteenth location, as the company has announced the opening of a new villa at Singita Grumeti in Tanzania, accommodating 10 people in five suites with original designs.
