Wharf Announces Retirement of Marco Polo Hotels’ President

Mr Gonzaga W J Li, Senior Deputy Chairman of The Wharf (Holdings) Limited (“Wharf”), announced today that Mr Jeffery Flowers, President of Marco Polo Hotels (MPH), will retire from MPH by the end of September 2007. MPH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wharf.
With MPH for over 15 years, Mr Flowers has held various senior positions in marketing, development and hotel operations before being appointed as President in 2005.
Mr Li said “Jeffery has been an excellent colleague and has greatly contributed to the development and the operations of the hotel group. I would like to, on behalf of the Wharf management team, express our heartfelt gratitude for his invaluable contribution and offer him our best wishes.”
On his retirement, Mr Flowers said, “My wife, Irene, and I have enjoyed our 23 years in Asia and feel fortunate to have been part of the region’s dynamic growth. With new Marco Polo hotels opening over the next five years and an outstanding portfolio of existing properties throughout the region, the company is in a solid position for future growth.”
Prior to joining Marco Polo Hotels, Mr Flowers has worked in the Westin Hotels & Resort Group, the Kowloon Shangri-la in Hong Kong and the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
