Ginori 1735 and Hotel de la Ville, a Rocco Forte hotel, announce the first Café Ginori in Rome, opening on December 8, 2024, featuring a boutique and menu designed by Fulvio Pierangelini.

Café Ginori seamlessly blends the art of pottery, hospitality, and cuisine, offering an exceptional experience to be discovered at Hotel de la Ville.

Bold yet refined, playful yet sophisticated: Café Ginori features an expertly curated boutique alongside the culinary creations of Chef and Creative Director of Food for Rocco Forte Hotels, Fulvio Pierangelini to offer a timeless space where guests experience a dynamic and unexpected journey in the Eternal City.

Crafted by Chef Pierangelini, the gastronomic experience perfectly complements the porcelain collections that reflect the essence and style of Ginori 1735: Oriente Italiano (Italian Orient), Il Viaggio di Nettuno (Journey of Neptune), and Labirinto (Labyrinth).

Café Ginori at Hotel de la Ville welcomes guests daily, from 10:30AM to 10:30PM, and offers a diverse culinary experience with three distinct menus: an all-day menu available until 7:00 PM, and a lunch and dinner menu, both enriched by daily specials that enhance the seasonality of local ingredients. Specialties of Chef Pierangelini’s dishes include scampi with caramelized Sciacca mango, artichokes, and Asetra caviar; cacio e pepe with lobster; and caesar salad with crispy chicken and seasonal truffles.

Reflecting the atmosphere of Ginori 1735’s flagship boutiques, the fabrics and furnishings - from Maison’s “Domus” home decor collection create an elegant backdrop for Café Ginori at Hotel de la Ville. The pottery’s iconic patterns are paired in stylish and refined combinations and the brand’s icons become part of the Roman Café Ginori décor: from the “Oriente Italiano” wallpaper to the embroidered fabrics used on cushions, upholstery, and chairs.

Upon entering Café Ginori at Hotel de la Ville, guests are first greeted by the branded boutique, where they can explore the pottery’s refined creations. Each unique collectible piece offers the opportunity to take home the unparalleled craftsmanship of Ginori 1735 Art of Plating along with the captivating experience of the new landmark outlet.

Hotel de la Ville, Rome

Hotel de la Ville opened in 2019 and stands as Rocco Forte Hotels' Roman address on Via Sistina, alongside the renowned Hotel de Russie on Via del Babuino. The iconic 18th-century palace, perched atop the Trinità dei Monti, underwent a complete renovation under the guidance of architect Tommaso Ziffer and Olga Polizzi, the company's Director of Design. Hotel de la Ville offers a contemporary cultural insight to the Grand Tour period in Europe, paying homage to the historic journeys of European aristocrats and nobles across the continent. The hotel boasts 104 rooms and suites, featuring a vibrant piazza within the heart of the hotel. The space not only bridges the two buildings envisioned by Englishman George Carter, but also stands as a unique example of linear geometry, drawing inspiration from 17th-century Italian and French formal gardens. Restaurants and Bar menus have been meticulously crafted under the guidance of Fulvio Pierangelini, Rocco Forte Hotels' Creative Director of Food. From the grand classics of Italian tradition served at the gourmet restaurant Mosaico, to the avant-garde mixology of the Julep Bar and the buzzing rooftop bar Cielo Terrace, culinary offerings tantalise even the most discerning palates. Fulvio Pierangelini

It is hard to imagine Fulvio Pierangelini (Rome, 1953) as anything other than Italy's top chef. Yet, as a young university student, he worked as a labourer, night porter and sailing instructor in seasonal resorts to pay for his studies. After graduating, he decided to indulge his passion for cooking, discovered when he slowly approached kitchens during the different types of work done. Discovering his innate talent, a fundamental learning experience was at Mougins, on the Côte d'Azur, under Roger Vergé, one of the brightest stars of French cuisine. In 1980, he took over 'Il Gambero Rosso', a modest trattoria on the harbour, an adventure that lasted around 30 years and took him to the top of the catering world, achieving important goals such as being named the best chef in Italy by the leading national and international gastronomic guides. His signature dish is still the famous 'Passatina di ceci e gamberi' (chickpea and prawn veloutée), giving a different view of haute cuisine, although he is equally well known for including more daily dishes in his menus - 'Pasta al pomodoro' (pasta with tomatoes) is guaranteed - bringing in new respect to individual ingredients, previously considered inappropriate. Fulvio Pierangelini is loved for his research and recipes, which focus on the essence and not on mathematical perfection. Chef Fulvio’s creative personality and his great charisma, combined with his expertise in ingredients, have led to his global success. For food critics, both at home and abroad, Fulvio loves spreading the message of great cuisine, his mission since 2009 in the role of Creative Director of Food for Rocco Forte Hotels’ bars and restaurants. Fulvio Pierangelini has designed the menus for the restaurants of Hotel Savoy, Hotel de Russie, Verdura Resort, Hotel de La Ville, Masseria Torre Maizza, Villa Igiea, Hotel Amigo in Brussels, Hotel de Rome in Berlin and the Charles in Monaco. Each restaurant has its own identity and its own story to tell through the menus designed by Chef Pierangelini, who focuses his menus on the ingredients and flavours of each region.
