Part of the resort’s collection of signature Designer Dining experiences, the exclusive offering seamlessly blends culture, cuisine and storytelling, creating an unforgettable evening for travellers looking to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Cambodia.

As the sun dips below the horizon, guests gather in the resort’s tranquil Frangipani Courtyard for the five-course culinary journey that opens with a Bakotor performance – a mesmerising martial art show inspired by ancient Khmer warriors.

In the deepening twilight, guests are served the pièce de résistance – a shadow puppet show in three acts, featuring small puppets painstakingly crafted from painted cowhide and wood in adherence to centuries-old traditions.

Exquisite flavours burst forth amid dancing shadows, inviting travellers to explore local delicacies ranging from Kep crab cakes and Mekong langoustine soup to lamb shank Saraman curry and decadent baked Alaska layered with local mango. Each course is thoughtfully paired with meticulously chosen wines.

Known locally as Sbek Thom, large Cambodian shadow puppetry is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list and truly embodies the country’s cultural legacy,” said General Manager of Anantara Angkor Resort, Supratik Guha.

With the art form undergoing a revival following decades of neglect during the Khmer Rouge regime, we wanted our guests to experience Sbek Thom in its authentic form through a unique blend of storytelling, tradition and gastronomy offered by the new Angkorian Dining Theatre.”

The Angkorian Dining Theatre experience is priced at USD 600 per couple, including a five-course menu and wine pairings, and takes place at the Frangipani Courtyard from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
