The unique design of each Hoxton hotel is a testament to its surrounding streets and the people that call the neighbourhood home, and yet there is an intangible thread that runs through the series which creates that distinctly Hox look and feel.

Ennismore’s in-house design team, AIME Studios, is responsible for creating that familiar layered yet accessible aesthetic, which is underpinned by an obsession with design – a passion seemingly shared by many Hox regulars and neighbours who are constantly looking for the inside scoop on fabric and furniture sourcing.

Looking to give a behind-the-scenes peek into the design process, and a chance for guests to recreate those Hox vibes at home, AIME Studios has collaborated with Bauwerk Colour to create the Neighbourhood Collection.

Bauwerk’s edit of sustainable paints has long been a firm favourite among the AIME Studios team, and its signature, limewash finish can be seen throughout The Hoxton series.

Combining Bauwerk’s thoughtful craftsmanship with The Hoxton’s inimitable style, the collection is a unique edit of paints influenced by the pigments and textures of four Hox hoods, both familiar and new. Comprising nine all-natural colours, the Neighbourhood Collection is for all the locals, visitors, and design-lovers who have ever wanted to take those homey Hox vibes, well, home.

Renowned for its hyper-local approach to design, AIME Studios looked to the neighbourhood touchpoints that inspired each hotel’s overarching design narrative when curating the collection.

From the sun-bleached hues of the residences and shop fronts that line Rambla del Poblenou, to the patina of the aged, moss-framed sandstone which frames Edinburgh’s West End, the paint colours have been created to reflect the design language of the areas themselves, rather than to simply replicate hotel interiors.

Celebrating both current Hox locations in the form of Berlin’s Charlottenburg, and Barcelona’s Poblenou, and the upcoming destinations of Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands and Edinburgh’s Haymarket, the collection features two unique paints per palette as well as a bridging colour, House – a soft, neutral connecting tone that completes the series.

Charlottenburg (Berlin)

The Hoxton in Berlin finds itself in a chic corner of the capital that was once at the heart of the Roaring Twenties.

Accordingly, Kino nods to the bold stylisation of 1920s cinema, theatre and cabaret, while Charlottenburg is reminiscent of the shell-pink, stucco-fronted facades that line the boulevards of West Berlin.

Eastern Docklands (Amsterdam)

The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam is set to put down roots amid the serene waterways of the Eastern Docklands, and the hip district’s sea-faring heritage provides the reference point for this palette.

Docklands is a deep maritime hue and Koning is a warm, nostalgic shade that reflects the neighbourhood’s connection to the Royal Hollands Lloyd Shipping Company.

Haymarket (Edinburgh)

Soon to be home to The Hoxton’s Scottish debut, Edinburgh’s West End is brimming with design kudos thanks to its handsome Georgian townhouses and picture-perfect mews.

This paint duo of Moss and Haymarket pays homage to the elegant, time-worn facades and distinctive stonework of the neighbourhood.

Poblenou (Barcelona)

The Poblenou palette is an ode to the Barcelona-based Hox by the sea, defined by balmy Mediterranean vibes. Casa and
Poblenou speak to a dreamy cityscape that combines peach-pink street horizons with striking contemporary architecture.

Innovation is at the core of The Hoxton’s evolution, and over the past couple of years this has been characterised by projects that have pushed the physicality of the hospitality brand to create Hox experiences that extend beyond the four walls of a hotel.

The Hoxton x Bauwerk collaboration is the next step in curating a more immersive experience, allowing

the Hox community and beyond to not only ‘get the look’ of the hotels, but to lean into the creative process behind the
aesthetic.

About Bauwerk Colour

In 2000, Bronwyn and Andreas Riedel set out to create the world's most beautiful natural paint, which led to the birth of Bauwerk Colour. Their love story unfolded through a shared experience of living in isolation - one on a remote Australian farm and the other in communist East Germany. United by their shared passion for colour and restoration and using locally sourced lime, their paints became a transformative force, preserving historic buildings with their breathable and durable qualities.
