Hyatt Regency Atlanta, the world's first contemporary atrium hotel and first major hotel in Atlanta to welcome African American patrons, will celebrate it's 40th anniversary on May 1.

The Hyatt organization will continue civil rights leadership with a $75,000 contribution to support the acquisition of the writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta. Global Hyatt Corporation President and CEO Mark Hoplamazian will present the donation to Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin at a reception at the hotel May 1.

Also at the reception, Mayor Franklin will present Hyatt Regency Atlanta with a Phoenix Award, the City of Atlanta's highest honor, in commemoration of the hotel's 40 years of Business success and commitment to Atlanta. A representative of Governor Sonny Purdue's office will also be there to officially proclaim May 1 "Hyatt Day" in the State of Georgia.

Debut of Radius, $8M Renovation for Tech-savvy Rooms

In conjunction with the hotel's 40th anniversary, Hyatt Regency Atlanta will complete its $8 million guestroom renovation of the former Ivy Tower. With the dramatic renovation, Radius debuts with 200 guestrooms that have been transformed into classic modern accommodations, appealing to convention, leisure and business travelers alike. The addition of iPod docking stations, Hyatt's Grand Bed and 32" LCD televisions are just a few of the new features offered in every room.

The chic, studio-style guestrooms also received new bedding, furniture, carpeting, wall coverings and fixtures for enhanced lighting. The interior designs of the new Radius rooms provide a fresh and eclectic look using a palette of light green colors, combined with rich espresso colored wood furniture. Patterns and textures are mixed with soft, luxurious cottons and linens to create a warm but modern blend. A generously sized lounge chair and reading lamp provide a place for guests to relax in absolute comfort.

Based on demographic research gathered before the renovation, Radius was designed specifically for the growing number of female business travelers. The cool color palette, proximity to the state-of-the art health club and added security of key-restricted entry to each floor will especially appeal to female guests.

Over-the-Top $40K Ruby Package

In celebration of its 40th anniversary this May, Hyatt Regency Atlanta has created a $40 thousand, once-in-a-lifetime guest experience. The Ruby Package includes ruby jewelry, the gem given in commemoration of 40-year anniversaries, and will be available through December 2007.

The luxury package will include: overnight accommodations in a deluxe suite, ruby accessories worth $15,000, helicopter transportation to and from the airport, 40 dozen roses, a six-course dinner at the Avanzare restaurant, a 1967 vintage bottle of wine, private butler service, chauffeured Bentley ground transportation and a private, behind-the-scenes tour of the Georgia Aquarium.

For guests interested in a less extravagant travel experience, Hyatt also will offer a more affordable guest package in honor of the anniversary. This package will include accommodations in the chic, newly-renovated Radius tower and a special 40th anniversary dinner at the Avanzare Restaurant.
