Swiss Hotel Management School (SHMS) retained its seventh spot in the global ranking, making it the third year in a row that the school has been ranked one of the top 10 institutions in the world for Hospitality and Leisure Management. Three other schools in the SEG alliance, Hotel Institute Montreux, César Ritz Colleges Switzerland and IHTTI School of Hotel & Design Management, also made headway into the top 20 list this year.
Also, Culinary Arts Academy Switzerland is recognised on this list in the 21st position. It is the only culinary institute celebrated on the list which is a testament to its academic achievements and Swiss approach to teaching culinary arts.
Similarly, in the category for hospitality and leisure management institutions in Switzerland, Swiss Education Group of schools featured prominently in the top 10. Swiss Hotel Management School retained its fourth spot, while Hotel Institute Montreux, César Ritz Colleges Switzerland and IHTTI School of Hotel & Design Management, have been ranked sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.

The QS World University Rankings provide methodical evaluations of key areas of higher education institutions. First published in 2017, the Hospitality and Leisure Management subject ranking presents data comparing 1,110 educational institutions around the world based on information gathered from academics and employers.In line with recent recognitionsThis year’s QS results follows some other recent recognitions for Swiss Education Group of schools. Notably, in November 2018, César Ritz Colleges Switzerland was named Number 1 Hotel School overall worldwide benchmarked against the i-graduate Student Barometer Survey (ISBSB) and THE-ICE 2018 ISBSB Global Index. The ISBSB is the leading global benchmarking tool used to track student experience, with feedback from over 3 million students from 1,400 universities, colleges, schools and government agencies worldwide.
In the same survey report, Swiss Hotel Management School was named Top 3 overall Hotel School Worldwide in Student Support and Number 1 worldwide in Personal Tutors. SHMS is also recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for its continued efforts in creating an innovative and compelling 21st-century learning environment. This designation is reserved for programmes that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence.
IHTTI School of Hotel & Design Management’s unique pairing of design and hospitality led to its accreditation by The Chartered Society of Designers, making it the first academic institution accredited outside of UK.
