Gerhard Bosse has taken over leadership from Henning Reichel, who had been running the five star superior hotel in Jochberg close to Kitzbuehel since its opening in 2012. For the experienced hotelier it is not only a change of scenery, but also a change of climate in the truest sense of the word. As a General Manager, Bosse has led the Kempinski Hotel Suzhou in China for the last five years, and prior to that he was working as a hotel manager in the Kempinski hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the golf resort in Belek, Turkey, and the Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg.
He has been part of the Kempinski family for 24 years now, and of his latest place of residence, he says “it feels like coming home because, ever since my childhood, I have always felt very connected to the mountains.” As a youngster, his summers were spent in the Allgäu Alps while many winters were spent skiing in the Ötztal Valley. Now he can put on his skis or hiking boots right on the doorstep, as the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol is the only luxury five star superior hotel in the region where the trails start right at the hotel and where you can stop off directly in winter without departing from the slopes.
Bosse is looking forward to bringing the experience gained in his international postings to Jochberg. “Guests coming to Tyrol expect warm hospitality,” he says. And this is what everybody gets at the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol. “This is the reason why many guests come back again and we have regular frequenters.” Another important goal matters in his opinion: “The hotel must be part of daily life in the region, using local produce and employing people from the surrounding area; and it must be embedded in nature and the mountains.”
When it comes to fashion, he is already prepared for the Alps: “I bought three new traditional jackets when I came to Tyrol,” he says with a smile. Now he is looking forward to the mountains in Tyrol and its people. “Everything here is authentic, as it has developed for centuries.” Luxury is a completely different concept here compared to other regions in the world: “It is defined by space, expanse, the clear air and the straightforwardness of the people.”
Bosse wants to bring the best of the region close to his guests as “the hotel is not just any hotel anywhere in the world – the name speaks for itself.” This is not only reflected in the facilities at the hotel, but also in the menus of the restaurants – where possible, the hotel only uses local produce from regional producers to create its culinary delights.
The service-oriented focus which is at the heart of all Kempinski hotels is of course part of the offering. “Our service is individual and attentive, but never intrusive.” And like at all his previous positions as a hotel manager, he also strongly cares about teamwork in Jochberg. “Nobody will go far by himself,” he says. “Especially in a luxury hotel like the Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol, all employees must work together to guarantee an unparalleled stay for their guests. This is the aim to which we aspire in everything we do.”About Kempinski Hotel Das TirolDas Tirol offers 156 spacious rooms and suites with panoramic views of the surrounding mountain scenery. A particular advantage is the location of the Kempinski hotel with its immediate proximity to the ski slopes in the middle of the extensive ski area in the Kitzbuehel Alps. The 3,600 m2 spa area of the hotel offers exclusive products and a wide range of spa treatments, movement therapy, relaxation and recreation. The Steinberg restaurant with modern Tyrolean cuisine for the breakfast buffet and dinner and the Pan-Asian restaurant Sra Bua by Frank Heppner with around 40 seats cater for all tastes. The culinary offer is complemented by a bar and a lobby with a fireplace on the first floor, the Mountain Health Bar and a café offering delicious pastries close to the entrance of the hotel.About Kempinski HotelsCreated in 1897, Kempinski Hotels is Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group.
