Dressed for the runway daily, Joe will oversee all bar operations, cocktail programs and events revolving around the Hotel's vibrant lobby bar One-Ninety, which boasts of an elegant ambience and a resort-style outdoor terraza.

Originally from Detroit where most of his adult life was spent, Joe’s roots were deeply set in the food and beverage industry. Having been fascinated by and fallen in love with culinary techniques and pairings, Joe decided to apply these skills to produce creative spins on classics and host personable cocktail classes.  His calling was realised in 2013, when he joined One Flew South, an upscale dining venue in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, which allowed him to comfortably interact with guests from all backgrounds and personalise each experience over a drink. He loved how he could interpret each guest's personality with a drink that defined the same.

Having his skills and confidence, it was at Bar Margot at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta where Joe decided to enter the competitive scene, clinching various titles and awards. In the first year of competing, Joe entered as finalist in Atlanta’s Bombay Sapphire’s Most Imaginative Bartender competition. Subsequently in 2016, Joe won the year’s Woodford Reserve Manhattan Experience and was named one of Bloomingdale’s 2016 Men of Style for his dapper fashion sense.

Joe prefers to create cocktails out of classic techniques with regional ingredients and is hoping to experiment with the herbs and spices from Green Thumb - a homegrown garden managed by a team of dedicated Hotel staff. He enjoys working most with rye and bourbon whiskey as they evokes memories, bringing him comfort and “having a particular sweetness that cannot be replaced.” His perfect mix would ideally be a good balance of flavours and the cocktail to his heart, Negroni Sbagliato, because “who doesn’t love champagne?”

With Singapore being his first Asian country to work in, he believes it is the place to be in at this point in time as it is advancing at a great pace for a seemingly young market for bartending. “The diversity in the country attracts people from all over the world and I can’t wait to be a part of the bar scene in Singapore while representing the Hotel," Joe shared.

Giovanni Speciale, Director of Culinary Operations and Food and Beverage commented, “Joe is going to be the new blood in the team, bringing an abundance of positive vivaciousness, energy and knowledge. With his amicable personality, he will come to represent the environment and character of One-Ninety Bar.”
