The Peninsula Hotels partners with Imperial Tours, China’s leading travel designer, to curate three epic journeys of discovery through China. En route, guests enjoy transport by private jet, helicopter, luxury yacht and a Rolls-Royce limousine, and unparalleled access to the finest gastronomic, cultural and family travel experiences in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou.

China is one of the world’s most coveted travel destinations renowned for its stunning diversity of culture, art, landscapes, ancient cities and cuisines. The fast-paced urban modernisation of recent years adds a dynamic new magnetism. The Peninsula’s Journey Through China programme has been exclusively created to provide tailored luxury experiences for guests in each city, while enjoying VIP privileges at The Peninsula hotels in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing.

Culinary Voyage Through China

The myriad cuisines of China have been perfected across several millennia, making it one of the most diverse gastronomic destinations in the world. This exquisite 10-day journey enables guests to experience the distinctive dishes and delicacies of Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong.

Beginning in Beijing, China’s culinary capital, guests meet the chefs at the newly renovated Peninsula Beijing as they demonstrate how to prepare peerless Peking Duck. In addition to taking part in an introduction to Northern Chinese cuisine and a noodle cookery class, guests enjoy dinner at a converted Buddhist Temple and a classic tea ceremony in a Beijing hutong.

In the magnetic city of Shanghai, an exquisite Cantonese meal is served at the two-Michelin starred Yi Long Court, plus a Chinese spirit tasting with the sommelier. A guided tour of the former French Concession wet market provides insights into favourite Shanghainese dishes. A day trip to the lakeside city of Hangzhou explores the hillside plantations nurturing the famous Longjing green tea, and guests learn how Traditional Chinese medicine has influenced Chinese cooking through the ages.

After a private jet transfer to Hong Kong, guests savour Champagne and canapés aboard a traditional junk while cruising the harbour, and visit one of the largest seafood markets in Asia. The Executive Chef at The Peninsula Hong Kong hosts a Cantonese dim sum class before the climax of the trip: a private helicopter flight to view the soaring city skyline plus the surrounding coast and mountains.

Culture & Heritage of China

China’s remarkable history and cultural traditions blend seamlessly with a captivating modern dynamism and eager embrace of the future. This exclusive 10-day adventure goes behind the scenes at the finest ancient and contemporary cultural attractions in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

The eclectic exploration begins in Beijing, the timeless epicentre of China. Guests sample imperial court life at The Forbidden City and Summer Palace, and visit a private section of the Great Wall of China to enjoy lunch with a world-renowned conservationist. A taste of ancient Chinese calligraphy painting is followed by a private tour of 798 Art District, the heartbeat of China’s vibrant arts scene.

In the iconic metropolis of Shanghai, guests hop aboard The Peninsula Shanghai’s private yacht for a luxurious river cruise, and explore the city’s classic and contemporary architecture with an expert guide. A walk through ancient Chinese art at the Shanghai Museum is followed by an out-of-hours tour at one of the city’s finest modern art museums and dinner at the home of a leading gallery owner.

After arriving by private jet in Hong Kong, the feng shui influence on the city’s dazzling architectural landscape is explained during a combined guided tour on foot and by helicopter. After private visits to Hong Kong’s leading contemporary arts centre and its newest cultural institution, guests enjoy a personal dinner prepared by Alvin Leung, who helms a vibrant new genre of Hong Kong cooking.

Family Tour of China

China is a fun-filled destination for all the family. This 10-day adventure has been carefully tailored to create immersive experiences in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong for parents and children to share together – and treasure forever.

The journey begins in Beijing, China’s family-friendly capital. Guests embark on private tours of the ancient Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, and share a private banquet atop the Great Wall of China. Back at The Peninsula Beijing, children learn Chinese painting with a local artist while parents explore the hotel’s original Chinese art collection. A family pedicab ride through the Hutongs can be combined with a game of jianzi and a table tennis session with a former Olympian.

Compelling adventure awaits family guests in Shanghai. A cooking lesson teaches aspiring chefs of all ages how to prepare favourite Shanghai dishes. While parents explore Shanghai’s rich architectural heritage, children join a treasure hunt inspired by local arts and culture. An evening Chinese acrobatics show is guaranteed to delight and inspire, and the family fun continues with VIP access to the newly opened Shanghai Disney Park.

Arriving in Hong Kong, parents and kids get to be honorary panda keepers at Ocean Park, share an upward ride on the legendary Peak Tram and take a private boat trip to spot rare pink dolphins. Young chefs can don an apron for a Candy Wonderland themed baking class, and the trip is completed with a breath-taking helicopter tour to view the Hong Kong skyline, Victoria Harbour and the Repulse Bay coastline from high above the clouds.
