The Master Class in Culinary Arts is a 6-month certificate program on the advanced aspects of culinary arts designed for young professionals wishing to enter the Food & Beverage industry, including modules specializing in management or entrepreneurship.

Restaurants can be attractive ventures for Food Entrepreneurs, especially as general interest in food is heightened and the position is idealized. However, with 1/3 of restaurants changing ownership every year and the majority reporting a financial loss (GastroSuisse), gaining the necessary skills, knowledge and experience is crucial to succeed in this challenging environment. Running a successful F&B business is a perfect equilibrium that requires industry and technical knowledge, practical experience, managerial skills, and a professional network.

“One of the key characteristics of the educational model at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne is the subtle, yet critical balance between technical expertise, practical skills and first-hand experience. Our goal is to provide an intense program to passionate young professionals eager to develop their F&B careers, or start their own business.” Says Fabien Fresnel, Chief Academic Officer at EHL.

Fabien Pairon, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and Senior Lecturer of the EHL Master Class in Culinary Arts program, explains: “There was a definite need in the market place to provide an all-encompassing program to support young F&B entrepreneurs. Food & Beverage is an exciting field with many opportunities, but it requires a specific skill-set to effectively run the business.”
