International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) events will profile three of the world’s leading chefs in an innovative panel discussion about the marriage of food and travel at Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM, taking place 5 – 8 May 2015. They will explore the role of food as the new global currency in bespoke travel and how the gastronomic reputation of a destination can define its position on the luxury travel map.

Brazilian Alex Atala (DOM and Dalva e Dito, Sao Paulo), Mexican Enrique Olvera (Pujol, Mexico City and Cosme, New York) and the Spanish Andoni Aduriz (Mugaritz, San Sebastian) are recognised as three of today’s most forward-thinking chefs who rely equally on both tradition and innovation – using the past to push cooking into the future. They will identify key trends in the food world as well as their specific inspirations, the discussion will be moderated by renown food and travel journalist Nilou Motomed.

Alison Gilmore, Senior Exhibition Director of the ILTM Portfolio comments:

“We are delighted to welcome these celebrated chefs to Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM. Understanding that luxury travellers today will often consider where they will eat over what they will see, where they will stay and how they will get there, our chefs will be able to highlight how the heritage of a destination can be translated into a contemporary world through its cuisine.”

The panel of chefs will be asked how they convey authenticity in their food, share how they find inspiration from the past and their experiences across the world, both as chefs and as diners. They will also highlight new ‘foodie’ destinations, cuisines and ingredients for the benefit of the luxury travel agents present, each of whom represent high-net worth clients from Brazil and across Latin America.

Ms Gilmore continues:

“Today, social media connects food and travel more than we could have imagined even a decade ago. We live to travel, we travel to eat, we eat to live – a globetrotter’s perfect circle – and Brazil is a melting pot of culinary choices, the ideal destination for this ground-breaking discussion.”

Travelweek Sao Paulo by ILTM invites over 600 luxury travel suppliers from across the globe to meet with the same number of luxury travel buyers from predominantly Brazil and across Latin America only a strictly one to one, mutually matched basis.
