Hispanic Business magazine named Jon Muñoz, senior director of global diversity and inclusion for Hilton Worldwide, to its 2011 list of "100 Most Influential Hispanics".
"We're very pleased to have Jon on our diversity and inclusion team," said Matt Schuyler, chief human resources officer, Hilton Worldwide. "His extensive subject matter expertise and relationships with diverse community leaders has been instrumental in further developing our global diversity and inclusion strategy."
The annual list is developed by the magazine's research arm, HispanTelligence, and reflective of three key criteria:
Hispanics of U.S citizenship that have had recent and national impact and whose achievements inspire other Hispanics to similar endeavors;
Candidates within, but not limited to, the following industries entertainment, performing arts, media and journalism, literature, sports, science and academia, entrepreneurship, government and corporate; and
Focus on those who have promoted the advancement of Hispanics in the U.S. by their leadership, community involvement or professional achievements.
Muñoz has more than 20 years of experience and twice served as chairman of the board of directors of the National Hispanic Corporate Council (NHCC) in Washington, D.C., a non-profit organization focused on providing benchmarking and best practices to corporations maximizing the Hispanic market opportunity. In 2010, he co-founded the NHCC Corporate Executive Development Program, a national leadership development program targeting top-performing mid-level Hispanic managers and directors who aspire to executive positions in corporate America's C-suites.
Muñoz has managed external strategic consumer and business relationships with influential African American, Asian, Hispanic, LGBT and Women non-profit organizations in the US. He has actively served in leadership positions on the boards of numerous diverse organizations, among them the League of United Latin American Citizens Corporate Alliance Vice Chair of Strategic Planning, the NAACP's ACT-SO Advisory Council Executive Committee, the National Hispanic Corporate Council Board of Directors Officer, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Senior Executive Corporate Advisory Board Vice Chair of Strategic Planning and the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Brain Trust.
