Dolce Hotels and Resorts, operator of 27 upscale hotels, resorts and conference hotels in North America and Europe, has appointed Miguel Batista of Maplewood, N.J., director of development for North America.
Miguel Batista LT CROP RT 5-2011.jpgReporting to John Betancourt, senior vice president of development services, Batista is responsible for helping to expand Dolce's system of managed hotels, resorts and conference hotels in the United States and Canada.
He formerly was director of acquisitions & development for Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group LLC, San Francisco, assigned to the company's New York office. His work there included analyzing potential acquisitions, sourcing management opportunities and structuring joint ventures in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Chicago.
Batista was vice president of Brickman, a real estate private equity firm based in New York, from 2006 to 2007. From 2003 to 2006, he was associate director, structured finance & investment banking, for Hypo Real Estate Bank International, London.
Earlier in his career, he held various real estate and financial positions with Kleinwort Benson in London and Standard & Poor's Financial Services LLC, Goldman Sachs & Co., Nomura Holdings Inc. and Thatcher, Proffitt & Wood LLP, all in New York.
Batista earned a master of business administration degree at Columbia Business School, New York, in 1999; a master of science degree in real estate development and investment at New York University in 1997; and a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics at Columbia University in 1993.
