Elite Island Resorts welcomes newest culinary team member
Elite Island Resorts is pleased to announce that Rajah Pillay has been named executive chef of all three restaurants at The Verandah Resort & Spa in Antigua. Pillay, who holds a certificate from the prestigious Le Pot Au Feu culinary school in Paris, France, has been working in the kitchen professionally for more than 20 years. He brings a wealth of culinary expertise having worked at a number of upscale restaurants and dining establishments from around the world.
“We’re looking forward to Rajah introducing his globally inspired dining experience to the Verandah Resort & Spa,” said Elite Island Resorts President Steven Heydt. “We are pleased to have a gifted chef like Rajah joining our Elite Island Resorts team.”
Upon graduating culinary school, Pillay accepted a position in Quebec, Canada, to join the Four Seasons culinary team. His extensive culinary portfolio includes experience in hotels and resorts throughout France, Canada, Asia and the Pacific (Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia) and the Caribbean (Turk & Caicos Islands, Saint Lucia and Antigua). Pillay is fluent in English, French, Tamil and Indonesian.
Pillay will lead The Verandah Resort & Spa’s culinary team where he will oversee their three restaurants: Seabreeze, Nicole’s and The Buccaneer. Seabreeze serves buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nicole’s, a fine dining restaurant, serves modern European cuisine. The Buccaneer, an a la carte restaurant, serves international cuisine with Caribbean flavors.
