Six Senses Resorts & Spas is delighted to announce that the newly opened Six Senses Con Dao by Indochina Land in Vietnam has won the coveted award of Best International Small Hotel Construction and Design, at the International Commercial Property Awards, held in association with Bloomberg.

These highly prestigious and fiercely contested awards were presented at a grand gala banquet in London, with VIP guests including the Chinese First Minister, Uruguay Ambassador, High Commissioner of Malaysia and Deputy High Commissioner & Counsellor of Singapore.

Stuart Shield, chairman of the International Property Awards said, “In our quest to find the most outstanding projects and property professionals from around the world we were fascinated to discover that the total value of the award winning projects was over $100 billion. This helps to contrast with the ‘Bear’ market approach to the property market in general. There are some incredibly strong roots being established for the future growth and generation of properties that are more attractive to look at, safer, kinder to the environment, smarter and able to deliver a better quality of life for those who live and work in them.”

Sonu Shivdasani, Chairman and CEO of Six Senses said, ‘I am absolutely delighted that Six Senses newest resort has won this award for design and in time for its opening. The Six Senses team has been proud to work with Indochina Land in the development of Six Senses Con Dao and that our collaboration has already achieved such an accolade, is a wonderful measure of a happy partnership.’

Rick Mayo-Smith, CEO of Indochina Land added, ‘We are very proud to have won this award. Indochina Land shares Six Senses philosophy of ecological design and development, using only sustainable and natural materials. To have been recognised as a world leader in the area of design is a great triumph.’

This year’s judges for the International Commercial Property Awards included Luke McKend, industry head property markets of Google UK; Peter Bolton King, group chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals; Christopher Hall, president elect of FIABCI; Thijs Stoffer, International Consortium of Real Estate Agents Association (ICREA); Fiona Nixon, chairman of the Australia Institute of Architects, Hendrik Nelde, president of FIABCI Belgium; Helen Shield, editor-in-chief of International Homes Luxury Collection magazine and Sven Johns, CEO of the German Real Estate Association.

Six Senses Con Dao opened this month, December 2010. Its 50 villas sit along a mile long golden beach, beneath dark green forested mountains. The heart of the resort is designed to resemble a traditional Vietnamese village. The island is part of a 16 island archipelago, most of which is protected as a national and marine park, sheltering and protecting many endangered species.
